FS#781 - Font is reset to Arial when editing text.

I added a text with Font “Alex Brush” and size 5. When I double-click on the text to edit it again, the font is reset to Arial and the size to 1.0.

Additional details to reproduce:

  • Main font of text is set to “Arial”
  • Individual font of selection is set to “Alex Brush”
  • The text dialog initially selects all text in the text input field which might trigger the font reset

Quick follow-up question: Does this only happen with this particular font or also with other fonts or even all fonts? Thanks.

I have tried it with several TT-fonts and it was always the same behavior.

Correct - that happens with all fonts - see also an old bugreport:
Quote:

Husky:  FS#627  describes a different problem (see attachment font.png of this report).
FS#627  is a usage / interface problem. This report is likely a bug (not reproducible here so far).

Admin

Christian Aigner: could it be that you have configured a reduced font list which does not include the font(s) in question under 'Edit' - 'Application Preferences' - 'Draw' - 'Text'? That way I can reproduce a similar behavior.

No, I didn't configure a reduced font list.

I recorded a short video to demonstrate this.

Admin

This problem has never been reproducible here. Can anyone confirm if this still exists in QCAD 3.1.4? Thanks.

I just tested it with the Linux version of QCAD 3.1.4 and the problem still exists. I shot a screecast of my test. Unfortunately I can't insert a link here. I'll send you the link by e-Mail.

This was test on a freshly installed QCAD 3.1.4
No configuration was changed or anything else.

Admin

Thanks. What is your exact Linux distribution and version thereof and what desktop (Gnome, KDE, ...) do you use?

I use Gentoo Linux, kernel 3.6.11
My desktop of choice is Fluxbox 1.3.2

Admin

Thanks for the video. What is the text contents after creating the text in "Alex Brush" (see property editor).

Admin

Another thought: does setting the main font on the left instead have the same problem?

Text contents in the property editor:

First it is

\fAlex Brush|b0|i0|c0|p0;\H12.5714;Test

but after opening and closing the text editor it changes to

\H12.5714;Test

Setting the main font on the left works well!
The text retains now its font when opened in the text editor.
