FS#1036 - Layer list - drop down menu option

In the same way as the Pen tool has a drop down menu, would it be possible to have an option to configure the layer list in the same way. I am trying to create a bit more drawing space and it would be good if I could dock the layer list in the top of my window and only take up a single row space!

I feel maybe a bit more explanation is needed.
I am working on a drawing in which I have set up two view ports, ortho grid in one and iso grid in the other one and in order to work more effectively it would be good to create more screen space. To be honest it would be a great feature to have the same 'drop down' menu style option for the property editor too, but I don't know how much work that would involve. These two dialogs (layer list and property editor) are probably the most used for most people and therefore want to be within easy reach - but not always docked permanently (just my 2 cents ;)).

Could you post a screen-shot of your current QCAD Screen arrangement? Just to see what we are exactly talking about ....

What's about a "Register card" arrangement like this ...

No screenshot needed, I am talking about not having anything docked on left or right, but have the tools only docked above in a 'ribbon' like style. Like the main menu is above the 'work space' I would like to dock the layer list and the property editor also above the workspace - just as you can the 'pen' tool, with drop down menus!
Hope this makes sense Husky :)

I have set up key codes for opening and showing the layer list and property editor as and when I need to, this is only a temporary situation any way, so maybe the key code idea is the best solution for me, it will give me a bit more screen space to work with and its no hardship to press a keyboard key for now. When I have finished this particular project .. I will re-dock the dialogs as before.
