FS#1106 - Add support for wipeouts

Wipeout entities can be used to hide rectangular or polygonal sections of a drawing, for example to make space for a label inside a hatch.

hi again!

wiping hatch under the label area is a good feature, it could be a property for the text object: like "wipeout background"

instead, my "hole" idea is not exactly the same: you can't put label over the "hole"!

regards!

OK, thanks for the clarification. A "hole" as a kind of a "forbidden area" is not supported in DXF/DWG.

shoorick commented on 31.05.2017 12:30

mmm... not "forbidden", but "invisible", "transparent": to be more correct, you may put label there, you just won't see it! you won't see its part, which intersects this area. like after printing this area is cutted off from the paper!

Thanks, I understand. This is unfortunately not supported by the DXF/DWG format. There simply is no such entity or concept.

However, a wipeout would have the same effect if it is placed in front of all other entities. It's certainly the closest you can get with DXF/DWG.

shoorick commented on 31.05.2017 12:41

thanks! wipeout could be enough: if I place wipeout "holes" on separate level, I can select all of them before printing and bring to front - extra operation, but not so boring ;)

Shouldn't be that hard to support.
Indeed a filled hatch with a maxed out drawing order in the background color.
That could be the Model background or the Paper background.

A hatch has simply not that relative color property.
The drawing order is renumbered on save/reload.
