FS#1118 - Text not saved

Hello,

I am stage manager and I have been using QCAD PRO nearly every day for 2 years now.
But since yesterday it seems that text is not saved within the file : when I reopen a saved file, text doesn’t show up. Do I miss a setting ?
I currently run Mac OS X Mavericks but there haven’t been any issues with this OS for months.

I deleted the app and prefs and tried out with 3.6.0 (which I don’t use because it often quits brutally), and also the free version of 3.6.4
But the issue still the same.

As I use this app for my work, it is very annoying not to be able to use text !
Thanks for your help

Does this happen with new drawings as well? Please create a new drawing, add a text and save the drawing to verify.
In any case, please attach or e-mail the drawing you are working with, so I can check if text is not saved or not loaded or not displayed.
Thanks.

Thanks for being so quick.
I just checked and it works with "simple text" mode. So it is no so annoying.
It does not happen with the drawings.

Can you please confirm the following step by step procedure to reproduce the problem on your system?

  1. Open file test.dxf
  2. Change text from simple to normal
  3. Save
  4. Close file
  5. Open file test.dxf again
  6. Text is no longer there

It worked that way.
I even created another test file, wrote directly in normal text mode, and it saved it.

Thanks a lot

3.7.0 / XP

I've the same problem! I'm loosing text after saving the drawing.

First time I thought: I did something wrong.
Second time: Can't be!
Third time .... there was something in the Bugtracker ;-)

After saving a new drawing all my text references are still there but the text is gone.

I haven't change my work-style - so, what is the solution for this problem?

still a problem

Husky: as always, please attach the relevant DXF file if possible. Thanks!

Hi hi - I wasn't done yet ....

Thanks!

Is this reproducible for you? I.e. can you edit those texts with the property editor, so they contain a text again, save, re-load and the text is gone?

Did you originally also use the font 'standard' for these texts or another font? I'm thinking there might be a problem related to a particular font or font name or something like that... Thanks.

I'm able to reenter the text in the Property Editor - both ways like "1234567" or "\H9.99951;1234567" works and it is now saved and proper reopened as expected.

Yes - but after I read your question I tried a couple other fonts - same behavior. Noticeable for me is that the property Editor reads the correct font before I save the drawing - after I reload this drawing (with the "vanished Text") the Property Editor reads always a "Standard" Font ...

Husky commented on 01.11.2014 07:58

@Andrew

I haven't seen that before - the Property Editor listed in the questioned drawings two Standard Fonts. A "Standard" and a "standard" Weird! If I design a new Text I have only one Standard Font in the List.
