FS#1320 - QFileDialog slow on network drives

QFileDialog should use the DontUseCustomDirectoryIcons flag; not much may be lost, performance should increase orders of magnitude for most – https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/54983/

Reference http://doc.qt.io/qt-4.8/qfiledialog.html added in Qt 4.8.6.

This will have to wait.

The performance problem likely only affects Qt applications for Windows. However, QCAD for Windows still uses Qt 4.7 which does not support that flag.

An update to Qt 4.8 causes other, more significant problems (see  FS#1241 ).

An update to Qt 5 is more feasible. There are only two showstopper bugs left in Qt 5:

Today, I've uploaded 64bit packages for Windows which link against Qt 5. This might improve the situation with the file dialog. Please let me know if that is or is not the case.

Hello Andrew, though the show-stopper bugs would not concern me much, I was prepared to wait ;)

Glad to tell you, that in 3.12.4 the file dialogue is as responsive on network shares as it is on local drives.

This seems to be the native dialogue; Now I can get onto the network without tricks too.
