FS#1450 - File > Save: Invalid Symbol Table Name

Opens an Autocad .dwg file happily (Pro version x64). Allows you to make changes, when you go to save (or save as), you get the “Invalid symbol table name”.

It should figure this out when file is opened and squawk immediately.

Would be extremely useful to get some additional error details that might allow one to diagnose and fix the problem. i.e. “Invalid symbol table name: _” with the name of the offender.

I tried removing unused blocks, no joy.

Just a workaround - not an answer to your request! ;-)

1. Open a new drawing and import (Menu/File/Import) this troublemaking dwg file. Then you will be able to modify and save the new drawing as usual.

or ...

2. same works with the clipboard function "Copy and past". Transfer everything into an new empty drawing and save it as usual.

Note: This is not meant as a solution for your request - just a workaround for the moment to keep you going ... :-)

Perfect!

Thank you for that workaround!!
