FS#288 - opening dwg file takes very long [improved]

Opening a 4 MB dwg file results in no-response for about five minutes. Opening the same file with DraftSight takes less than five seconds.

Please send or attach dwg file for testing if possible.

May I send the file through e-Mail? It's kind of private, but not top secret.

Yes, sure: [email protected]

Thanks.

Thank you for your fast response, you should have got mail.

Performance has been improved a lot (approximately factor 5.5) with some simple fixes. Further improvements are possible but would require more effort for much smaller gains. This has been postponed for now.

Thank you very much, this already helps a lot! :-)

Dear Andrew, this is also my problem, but the drawings are confidential... they are about 30 MB and I can't open them with QCad 3.1.2 ... are there typically issues QCad can't handle with? For example a high amount of layers or large dimensions of the drawing?
Thank you for some help. Julia

A 30MB DWG is likely at the limit of what QCAD can handle at this point, yes.
