FS#787 - Hatch generator - plug in tool?

Would it be possible to make a Plug in tool for a Hatch generator, so custom made hatches can be saved as .pat files?

I have a lot of up and coming future projects that I would like to make my own ‘custom’ hatches for.

Yes, this has also been on my agenda for a long time. Definitely something that would be great.

Note that there are many free and non-free stand-alone hatch pattern generators available already that output .pat files which can also be used by QCAD. Google for 'hatch pattern generator'. If you do any research in that area, please let me know if you find a good one.

OK, I`ll have a look about.

Hmm, I don`t seem to be able to find much at all in the way of free ones, most of what's out there are designed to work in conjunction with AutoCAD or the like!

However I did find one at cadro.com , but I think the company may not exist any more, but it will provide some interest I'm sure:

I did manage to get something from this - albeit a bit cumbersome and the result wasn't that great.

I think a Hatch 'plug-in' for QCAD to make and create custom . pat hatch files directly within QCAD would be a real winner, I`m sure something like this would prove very popular within the CAD world!

If you know of any free generators yourself please let me know and I would be happy to test them out.

2019-2020
Tile2Hatch is working splendid.
Math is finished. '19
Stability vs precision is an encoding issue.

Seen the effort question is would I donate it for free.

2022
Tile2Hatch was never released.
It seems that hatch rendering under QCAD is not capable of handling complex patterns.
ACAD doesn't has that issue.

John Hyslop has a working version and uses it for fairly simple things.
