If I like to import a Bitmap in my drawing I have no possibility to choose a file by a thumbnail bitmap preview. In many cases it is really helpful and I assume it is a sort of standard ....

As we know it is easy to copy our own hatches (.pat) to QCAD but unfortunately with every QCAD update I’ve to move those files to a new location.

This said - it would be nice to have the possibility to tell QCAD the source for such customized hatch collection. Similar to the “Library Source” feature for the Library Browser.

If I do my Grid settings - there are not correctly taken over in existing or new drawings.

Some kind of multiplication?

QCAD Pro fails to write R10, R9, R2.6, R2.5 dwg files. Younger types and dxf work as expected.
Tested the issue back to QCAD 3.18 - no version is able to save those file types.

Model_Space Print Preview off / previously used scale was 1:1
Viewport 1:10
Paper_Space Print Preview scale 1:1
I’ll use the Paper_Space for a print:
Works as expected. A 2 mm Line will be printed in 2 mm

I’ll use the Paper_Space for a print:
Works not as expected! The Model_Space Print scale is used for scaling the 2 mm Line in the Paper_Space/Viewport. The Line will be printed with a 20 mm wideness.

Crop marks in Paper_Space are only printed if a Viewport covers the crop mark position.

Case:
Drawing with Viewport,
in Model Space - launch Print Preview - Paper size and display ok,
change directly to Paper_Space - Paper size and display ok,
switch back to Model Space - Paper size ok but the Paper display looks infinitive big ...

Print Preview off/on or launching/canceling Drawing Preferences will solve the display issue.

Print Preview:
Black and white/Greyscale mode doesn’t works on Text.

Case: Launch Print preview (first time), confirm dialog “Auto fit drawing to paper?” with yes, change after that the scale, close Print Preview, launch Print Preview - the last chosen scale what should be remembered is overwritten by the Auto fit scale.

Note:
The Auto fit scale stays persistent - even after reloading the drawing!

The option “Auto fit drawing to paper?” as a dialog occurs only the first time you use Print Preview - there is no way to change the chosen option later in a session or after reloading the drawing ...

Case: My last “Print preview” setting was “Multiple Pages” = 4
QCAD will remember this setting until I change it.

If I then - maybe days later - start a “Print current view” out of my drawing then QCAD will show me the current view on ONE page. Exactly what I expected. If I start the print QCAD will print on FOUR pages regarding to the last “Print preview” setting. Not what I was looking for ....

Now knowing what will happen I launch “Print current view”, see my current view on ONE page, launch the “Drawing preferences”, see that FOUR is the number for pages, doesn’t change anything and cancel the dialog. NOW I can see that FOUR pages are used for the current view print.

That is confusing and it would be nice to have somehow more control over this behavior.

Task:
Drawing - New from Template ...

My Default Template Folder in “Application Preferences” is on F: (USB Port).
QCAD depicts to C:/Programme/QCAD pro 3.1.2/libraries/templates
(Yes - I started QCAD new after adjusting the default Folder)

I’m not able to import any dxf or dwg.

Exception when populating scale combo box

Rufe ich die Funktion “Text” auf und schreibe einen Text wird dieser unwiderruflich gelöscht bzw. durch einen vorherigen Text ersetzt wenn ich danach etwas im “Main Font” verändere.
“Text Geometry” und “Alignment” funktioniert.

If I use accidentally explode on a ray or infinitive line the line will be deleted without a warning.

2. If I select an area with a selection rectangle as preparation for the “Clip to rectangle” tool all bitmaps within the selection are deleted - without a warning.

Despite the toolbar “Cancel” option it would be nice if we could terminate BB also with an “Esc” or “QQ” keystroke like every other tool.

Open the example drawing,
selected all,
copy to clipboard,
open new drawing,
paste clipboard content with a scale of 1:1, check preview = everything ok,
change scale to 1/10 etc., check preview = block references way of.

If I insert a content from the Clipboard to the drawing a new Relative Zero Point isn’t created.
I’m not able to use e.g. a restriction regarding to the last inserted content. QCAD will use the last Relative Zero Point in the drawing even if I already inserted a content.

If I use the Copy/Cut with Reference Clipboard function I can’t use the “Coordinate” or “Polar coordinate” snap to determine the reference point.
I have the feeling that just the option box isn’t shown ....

Case:
Drawing in mm with Entries in the View List,
Convert (CU) drawing from mm to inch,
View List still exist but has lost the coordinates for each defined window,

Case:
Existing Leader with Arrow status “yes” in drawing,
launch “Convert Drawing Unit”,
convert drawing unit,
Leader status for Arrow “yes” is now changed to “no”,

If I convert to an other unit it will only change the unit name - no dim (Existing or new) is calculated regarding to the new unit.

Converting the Drawing unit (CU) in Model Space will ruin all preexisting Viewport arrangements in your Layout Block. You have to rebuilt them from stretch or undo the unit conversion.

Edit: And it fails often to read the menu at all at the first time. A second try will display the information ...

Application Preferences / Dimension Settings

Text hight doesn’t accept anymore input 3.5/25.4 and it will change that in a new drawing to “0” instead to show 0.137795

If I remember correctly: Marked for “Keep proportions” = unchecked in new drawing is desired behavior, correct?

I like the new shape tool “Star”. Comes at the right time

Would be nice if we could get the same options like all other shape tools: “Create Polyline” and “Fill”.

... I have the feeling that wasn’t the idea. I’m correct?

Case:
in Model Space, launch Add Viewport, determine the Viewport rectangle - when done QCAD will switch to a Layout Block.
Now in Layout Block, don’t(!) place the Viewport, switch back to Model Space and the Viewport is still attached to the Mouse pointer and you can place it in your Model Space. The source of the Viewport will then disappear.

Drawing with more than 4 Layout Blocks (Layout1, Layout2 etc),

Add Viewport, choose rectangle for viewport, Dialog pops up to choose a Layout Block,
I choose Layout4 - the Viewport is placed on Layout2,

next new Viewport - placed on Layout3 - the Viewport will be placed again on Layout2 ...

... just cosmetic!

Rectangle with size: The option box “Reference Point” is a bit to small to show the whole text of the chosen option.

English / German = same behavior.

If I insert a bitmap the relative zero point (RZ) isn’t set at all. It will be set at the mouse position in the moment when I terminate the tool.

This leads among other things that I can’t use the Alt key for ortho mode or other tools for restrictions.

If I try to draw a circle between two little circles with a radius (e.g.) of 3000 the tool shows me only two possibility’s - but there are much more. If I make a counter test with the tool “2 Tangents with Point” all possibility’s are correct shown.

... after picking the first Point a wrong message appears what says:
“Warning: The two points are identical”

Drawing created with a previous QCAD version has issues to be correctly displayed in the current snapshot.
e.g. drawing opened in QCAD 3.23.0 - works flawless.
same drawing opened in QCAD 3.23.4 - has problems to show inserted blocks correctly.

... impossible to chose a scale in the DIM option bar.

Case:
Settings are:
General: Drawing Unit
Drawing Unit: Foot
Paper Unit: Inch
Measurement System: Imperial

Dimension Settings: Architectural

Issue:

I draw a horizontal line 12 units (foot) long,
Use then the Horizontal DIM tool and it will display a measurement of 1’ = false,

I draw a horizontal line of 2 units (foot)long,
Use then the Horizontal DIM tool and it will display a measurement of 2” = false,

I assume the input for the line length is handled from the DIM tool as inch and not as feet.

XP 32/ QCAD 3.1.6

Drawing Preferences - Dimension settings - “Keep proportion” setting changes will not be saved with the Drawing.

Maybe you have to try it a couple times with the same drawing

It would be nice to have the option for a “Short” Extension Line.
This is often used in Architectural drawings.
Yes, I know that I can explode a dimension and change it to that what I’m asking for - but that is really a Sisyphus task and destructs the function of a dynamic Dimension in QCAD.
