1888 | dwg2bmp | Feature Request | Low | Add support to disable hatch rendering on "dwg2bmp" | Assigned
1 |
Task Description
Hi!
A friendly request to add an option to disable hatch rendering on “dwg2bmp” conversions.
Depending on the nature of the conversion and the density of the hatch, this may render unintelligible images (see attachments). The option could look like “-t, -nohatch” to indicate hatches should be hidden before rendering. This could potentially become an option too for “dwg2svg” or “dwg2pdf.”
Amazing product, thank you so much!

Task Description
Hi there,
A friendly request to add the option to set a maximum lineweight for raster conversions via dwg2bmp.
Depending on the LW configuration of the CAD file, rasterization operations sometimes yield terrible results (see attachment). This would also mirror the similar “-min-lineweight” options available on “dwg2svg” and “dwg2pdf” (although not on “dwg2bmp”).

Task Description
I am doing a bit of landscaping and using a (big) ortophoto as one of my layers in order to sanity-check on the ground measurements.
The layer contains a point and the image and nothing else.
The image is a 8MB file: “PNG image data, 4200 x 2980, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced” and it is scaled to 210 coordinate units (meter) horizontally in the drawing.
With approx 50% probability the image disappears during Save, as see for instance in this diff of the DXF file:

The point in the same layer does not similarly disappear, the bug only seems to affect images.
I have seen this bug from version 3.7.5.0 to git as of yesterday (63e06c778926a803bdfbffdf27b8c24d41511072).
I have not been able to correlate the bug with anything.
Looking closer at the DXF file (attached), there seems to be some residuce of attempts to insert images in protected/invisible layers, so this may be some kind of refcounting issue.
(Any chance of getting FreeBSD into the “Operating System” field ?)

Andrew,
It took me a while to find the source of a certain freak bug I encountered. I used the RLine.isParallel(RLine) as a test for knowing if line segments were parallel or not.
Included below is script code that mimics the functionally of isParallel().
As far as I know isParallel() is nowhere used in the QCAD open source. Textual only found in RLine.cpp & .h or under: opennurbs, ecmaapi\generated and ecmagenerator\src.

Task Description
I have set the grid/snap value to X=.0625 Y=.0625 on all 4 viewports. When zooming in and out the grid/snap scale changes from .0625 to 3.90625. at this point the grid/snap points differ, This causes a variation in the grid/snap reference points lending to drawing errors.
example When I use the grid settings defaults .01, when zooming in and out, the grid/snap scaling doesn’t seem to have this issue. Other values do, See below.
set value first zoom second zoom next zoom
point point point ...
0.01 0.1 1.0 10.0 ... 0.02 0.04 0.4 4.0 ... 0.04 0.16 1.6 16.0 ... 0.05 0.25 2.5 25.0 ... 0.0625 0.390625 3.90625 39.0625 ... 0.0254 0.64516 6.4516 64.516 ...
Why is there a squaring of the original set value? Which then becomes a new zoomed grid/snap value?

Andrew,
Related topic: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=10649
Already two different users report that Landscape is printed cropped in portrait format, both Win11. The behavior change occurred recently. Although the second user (rdtsc) reports the same behavior for latest Mabox Linux (Manjaro, Arch.)
Can not replicate that on Win7 32 bit nor on Win10 64 bit, both are no longer or not updated OS. For one, I have no orientation setting displayed in my printer dialog.
It seems not to be related to the QCAD version: Reported for: - Win11 QCAD Pro 3.29 - Win11 QCAD-CAM 3.27.8.0

Task Description
Andrew,
When switched to French I detected a typo in the drop down box for Lineweight.
Weight 2.11mm is listed as 1.58mm {2.11m?} https://github.com/qcad/qcad/blob/master/ts/qcadcore_fr.ts#L1228-L1229 Also see attached image file.
May I ask why only ISO types have a comma instead of a point in French. The use of a comma is uncommon in the Property Editor even when that is the native decimal separator. I also detect an extra space between the value and ‘mm’ and that only for the ISO types.
This only occurs in: https://github.com/qcad/qcad/blob/master/ts/qcadcore_fr.ts https://github.com/qcad/qcad/blob/master/ts/qcadcore_pl.ts https://github.com/qcad/qcad/blob/master/ts/qcadcore_pt.ts
Probably not OS or QCAD version related.

Task Description
1. The Scrollbars for each window in the Viewports has the same size like the normal used scrollbars for windows. If you are working on a normal size Monitor it “steals” a lot of “working space”. Is there any possibility to make the scrollbars smaller or just a line to separate the windows so that I have to navigate with Keyboard and mouse?
2. I thing the Viewports and the View List belongs together - is it possible to get a button in the “View List / Tool Bar” to choose a Viewport style instead of “walking” the long way over the “Drawing preferences” Menu?

3 |
Task Description
When working with multiple Viewports with different scale it could be very useful to have extra properties controlling how dimensions are rendered in the viewport:
1) E.g an extra “Dimension Scale” under “Scale” in the Viewport selection’s ‘Specific Properties’ section, could allow having the same size when printed. This Dimension Scale would be multiplied on top of the Scale value, but only for Dimensions rendering.
2) Toggle button for hiding any dimensions in the Viewport. Maybe this should be controlled by being able to specify a Layer that should be hidden in this Viewport only, then I could select my Dimensions layer here.

1915 | QCAD (main) | Suggestion | Low | Viewport does not rotate view-port when changed in pape... | Assigned
|
Task Description
To reproduce
1. Select a new view-port in model-space 2. Select the appropriate paper-space 3. When the paper space opens change the angle of the viewport.
Actual
The object in the viewport changes but the viewport itself remains unchanged
Expected
That both the view-port and the object changes angle as the angle is updated
Motivation
If you abort the placement (but keep the angle) and go back to model-space and then redo the operation the view-port is rotated along the angle. It seems that the viewport only picks up the initial angle once the paper-space is open and ignores any changes thereafter
Workaround
1. Select the view-port per normal in model-space 2. Open the paper-space and set the wanted angle but do not place the view-port in paper space 3. Abort the placement on paper-space and redo the whole operation
Once the paper space is opened again the view-port will have the chosen angle

When using the vertical line tool, you can enter a length value in the options toolbar, then place the line. Hi, this is a usability feature request:
If you want to move an object relatively to any point (e.g. by entering @x;y in commandline) it does’nt make sense to enter a starting reference point. Of course this is possible by clicking to any location on the screen. But it’s difficult to change between mouse and keyboard so often.
It should be possible to enter a “don’t care” or “any” reference point by pressing a keyboard shortcut (e.g. enter like in AutoCAD).
Thx

Task Description
My system: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz and 8 GB of RAM and NVIDIA GT218 (GeForce 210)
For a normal drawing displaying it in all detail is a good thing and the performance of my quad-core system is more than adequate.
But I discovered (or rather experienced) that when putting a large collection of individual drawings of gears onto one big sheet (960 mm x 600 mm - preparation for laser cutting), the performance was so bad that I had to wait several seconds (>10 sec) for each step in the process of arranging all the parts on the layer.
Request: It would be a big help and performance booster if you could disable the detailed view of each part/layer and only draw a rectangle to visualize the outline of the part.
Please take this in consideration. Attached you find an example of how that could look like. (Actually when pasting a drawing from the clipboard you already do that.)

That would make it possible to migrate the drawing from one computer system to another without having to worry whether the used font is installed on both systems, like when sending a drawing to a manufacturer for laser engraving.
Right now I can do it by hand, letter by letter, and that is a rather labour-intensive task.

This is a trim method I am missing in Qcad.
20 years ago it existed in CadKey. You had a bunch of lines or segments. You defined a (new) line or segment as cutter. ‘Trim All’. You pointed at the side of the cutter entity to trim all intersecting at that side.
Pritty the same as in this topic: https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?t=5221
Only in rare cases I can use Husky’s workaround as pro. It all depends on what else is in the clipping rectangle that is needed to trim all intended. If of no use all single crossing entities have to be chosen one by one.
