Aligned dimensions are not displayed correctly after loading. Definition point and text position are set to NaN.

When paper unit being change to other values (other than default “Milimeter” or “None”), the paper borders are wrongly displayed in print preview.
The attachment screenshot images is for example.
1, Edit →Drawing Preferences →Drawing Unit →Pager Unit, choose the value “Centimeter”.
2, Edit →Drawing Preferences →Page →Pager →Paper size, choose the value “ISO A4”.
3, File →Print Preview, the displayed print borders are wrongly displayed as a very narrow rectangle, which is obviously wrong.

Anonymous blocks (with names starting with *, imported from other software) can be mixed up on writing.

I have created a block from a selection. I have then later created more items on my CAD page using that block, then later yet, moved the objects to a new layer. I noticed that while the object has accepted being on the new layer, the color hasn’t changed to the new layer’s color. I can only get the line color to change if I go into the block itself and move the individual segments of the block to that new layer, then save the new block (which, by the way, I can’t save over the existing block?!?!)

In the sample file attached, you will see that the block item in the 3 o’clock position is in layer 0, while the rest are in “Vent Holes” layer. If you make layer 0 hidden, the one block is hidden (like it should), but the block item refuses to take on the layer’s color even though the block’s color is “By Layer”

Likely affects Windows Vista, 7, 8.

im’ trying the 3.9.6 base version, and i have found a problem in printing/exporting..

To replicate the bug:
Try to draw a simple form, for ex a circle, and draw a center of this circle using POINT function.

Now if you make a print preview, then CENTER the circle in the page and try to export to pdf or print, the circle and the POINT (center) are ofsetted !!

i have try to make the same operation with 3.9.5 and i have no problem !!!

If custom complex linetypes embedded in a file refer to a font that is not available for linetype shapes, the file cannot be opened.

I have a file that makes QCAD crash. I’ve been editing this design across different versions of QCAD over time and this is the first time I have a problem with it.

Steps to reproduce:
Open the attached file and try to add some entities or dimensions to it (you may need to create large ones since it seems to depend on the zoom factor; for example a very large ellipse). After a freeze of a few seconds QCAD will quit.

The attached file is a simplified version from which I deleted a number of entities; on the original I can’t do anything – QCAD crashes as soon as I try to create any object.

Cause: 3D lines with x1==x2, y1==y2 but z1!=z2

Something with hatching changed between 3.10 and 3.12; Changelog for 3.11.2 states: “Add support for hatch patterns defined per entity”. That may be?

Attached drawing from an older version; open in current and see a black box where there should be earth. Change scaling of hatch from 10 to 254 and it will be exactly the same it was when saving the file.

Curiously, that is like swapping inches and mm? Looking into prefs, there is a new drop down: “Messsytem für Linien und Schraffuren” and it read “imperial”; making it metric and bingo, my drawing looks as intended!

This is bad, because each drawing has to be changed! I changed the application default drawing setting to metric and the existing drawing still had imperial set…

Probably a heuristic was on order? If the drawing does not specify the new setting, and the drawing units is metric, use metric?

i have find another strangeware about points.. if you set a different point style in program options, on the display the style is correct, but when you try to print or export the drawing, the points are printed as default “point” (little black circle).

Points move by a constant offset relative to the rest of the drawing when printing or exporting to PDF.

This is the exact same bug as  FS#1243 , which was reportedly fixed in version 3.9.7 with commit https://github.com/qcad/qcad/commit/9c9d7bbc3fd845b8475ff12a919ad8e86bbaeb1f, but has resurfaced in version 3.12.4 (and possibly earlier versions that I have not tested).

To replicate the bug, create a simple drawing with points and lines then print or export to PDF, and notice that the points have moved relative to the lines or have disappeared off of the page entirely.

Tested with Arch Linux, 64 bit; QCAD version 3.12.4 using the prebuilt binaries supplied from the qcad.org download site.

Text with subscripts (e.g. “S\S^3;”) is display incorrectly with the latest version on both Mac OS X and windows 64-bit.

The subscript (”3”) is displayed before the normal text (”S”).

I have been using subscripts to indicate electrical switch types on my blue prints.

It appears that superscripts are also being displayed incorrectly.

When opening a .dxf file saved by QCAD with a name containing a special characters (tested with diacritics), it fails with the following message:

Import failed.

How to reproduce:
1 - Save a file (content doesn’t matter, it’s the same with an empty file and a file containing data) using the name “tèst1.dxf” 2 - Try to open the file
3 - Error message

What is expected:
The file open.

Note that the problem doesn’t lie in the “save” step: the same file, once renamed to “test1.dxf” opens fine.

QCAD/CAM version 3.16.7.1 (snapshot release)

QCAD/CAM version 3.16.7.1 for Ubuntu Linux starts up with a totally black screen with only the title bar showing. By clicking around at the top of the screen I can get the menus to drop down and appear over the blank black screen. That is how I captured all the version information below. QCAD/CAM version: 3.15.5.0 for Ubuntu Linux starts with all the normal screen graphics appearing normally. I labeled this bug report as critical because QCAD/CAM is unusable on Ubuntu Linux, but for me it is not so critical since I can use the Windows version.

If you pres the “hatch icon” then the word “hatch” appears in the command window, but. . . nothing happens.

But if you type “hatch” followed by “enter” then finally the Hatch Window pops up.

Printer settings cannot be changed for model space.

I am a new qcad pro user and created a simple drawing and saved as DXF R27 and closed the app. I reopen the app and open that DFX and the app crashes. However, I can import it. I suspect (without any evidence) that the text in the dimension of the drawing is the problem. Perhaps this issue is like #1261

Trimming polylines especialy those with a string of small segments should be done at the intersection of those polylines.
Now trimming is done with the seggments that where the nearest when selecting the two polylines.

Font Standard. Selected as ‘single line’ font for engraving with mill or laser.

While CAM Exporting as G-code Laser (Offset) MM, or as Linux CNC, Exporting gets trapped in a loop.

In Font Standard the glyph’s ? & $ @ s S Q and 2 contains unwanted Z-movements. It seems these glyphs entities are not alligned properly; endpoint last line does not meet startpoint next line; why else the Z-movements?

Could this misallignment also traps Exporting?

Application crashes when entering 0 in the scale option while pasting a spline.

This is an issue also when entering scale factors of less than 1, as the application immediately crashes when entering the 0 digit.
As a workaround for a scale factor of e.g. 0.5, one can enter 1.5 and then edit the 1 digit to 0.

Loading the appended dxf-file should show a circle and an ellipse.
The circle is ok.
The ellipse gets always an ellipse with center at (0|0),
main vertex at (1|0) and ratio of 1.

... ? I reported this already some days ago, but the task doesn’t show up in the list? ...

Please use the offscreen platform plugin for headless systems
(without a running X11 server):

In addition, you might have to override the default Qt style
to prevent the loading of a native desktop style (such as GTK):
./qcad -style plastique

I have tested this in version 3.22.1 too and get the same result. Reverting all the way back to 3.13.1 results in an operable version of qcad when working on the same file and library blocks.

QCAD Professional 3.23.0 is using en_US keyboard layout although I have a Finnish keyboard on Fedora 29. I have not found a way, how to chance the keyboard definition. In Fedora repositories there is QCAD Community Edition 3.22.1, and keyboard definitions there are working OK. Keyboard layout is following Gnu desktop keyboard selection and can be changed on the fly. Wrong keyboard layout makes working very hard, because almost all special keys are in different places, like colon, semicolon, plus, minus, parentheses, slash etc.

Nosing around in the QCAD Reference Manual I noticed a misperception in the Mirror / Flip commands.

Crash when drawing contains viewports.

I’m trying to print a large cad drawing at 1:1 scale. However, when I go into preview to select tile button, it doesn’t exit. First image is my screeen capture, the 2nd is from the online tutorial regarding printing and the button that is missing.

All linetype patterns are displayed too large.

Recently I found out that tabs (CAM module) are only visible on layer 0. If I turn this layer off, all tabs will disappear. It is very inconvenient for someone who create a drawing using multiple layers. Im my case, layer 0 contains the frame and the info table only. When the drawing is ready and verified, I add a layer with a copy of the drawing just for g-code generation. I do it in that way because the drawing sometimes has to be modified for cnc purposes. Please correct this problem.

In order to type a diacritical letter (e.g. with ' (é) or " (ö)), MacOS does not repeat the letter when a key is pressed continuously. Instead a dialog appears which allows the user to select one of the diacritics related to the letter of the key pressed. In QCAD and presumably QT, keeping the key pressed starts typing the letter repeatedly while after the first letter is typed the selector for the diacritical letters appears. So you can still the select e.g. the ü but you have to delete all the u’s that were typed before you were able to release the key.

A stop gap measure is to minimise the ‘key repeat delay’ setting in keyboard preferences so that its easier to stop the repetition in time, but that influences other programs as well.

I suppose this is a QT dependency and hase less to do with QCAD. Still, I wanted to let you know.

Long time no see - so long that I’ve had to reregister. I must be getting a bit better (though I only do pretty basic stuff).

I often have to trace an actual paper drawing, so I scan it in as a jpeg and insert in the usual way. For a while now, this has become difficult to do because however often I send the image to back or bring the polyline to the front, just moving my mouse over the photo (not selecting it) makes the line disappear and I’ve got a bit fed up with trying to work around this (I don’t think it was always like this?)

I’ve attached my current example (there’s only a single image in it at the moment), and thank you in advance for your patience and help.

• OdWriteEx from OpenDesign creates something similar: a bunch of rectangles, each with a text label and an entity inside, e.g. “Aligned Dimension” and below a rectangle with an aligned dimension inside

• the example drawings should contain:
  • an instance of every supported entity type (line, arc, circle, all dimensions, block insert, text, hatch, solid fill, ...)
  • lines in all available widths
  • lines in all available types
  • lines in all available (fixed) colors and some custom colors

  • drawing scales
  • paper sizes

There is one important ACAD feature that I would really like to see supported in QCAD3 and that is “Layouts”

Looking at the block lists, it seems to me that it can’t be too much extra work to support it, since the model space and different paper spaces are already shown there - and one can edit it.

QCAD draws infinitely easier than ACAD and drawing layouts is a primary feature of ACAD. With this in QCAD I can hardly see why anyone that does 2D work would need ACAD at all.

Trying to build a hatch area sometimes results in “invalid hatch area”. It would be nice if QCAD could give a hint why / where the problem occurs (where is “line too long” or “not closed”).
