It would be great if the user could choose a default template for new drawings.
There exists already a “File → New from Template” feature, where I can choose a template, but in most cases I want my new drawings to be based on my default template. It would be very convenient if there is an option to set the default template and use it for the “File → New” function.

On the attached file (png image, link : http://nikel.ovh/~tukuyomi/oq_bug.png ), the white entity is a polyline (1 line, 1 arc, 1 line). Using Polyline > Offset (OQ) with a big value (1100 in my case), I expect to get the green polyline. What I have is the red one (also CPU is maxed for some seconds every time I move the mouse.)

Task Description
After designing one ore more parts you may want to produce them.
Maybe it is a flat part, made out of copper sheet metal. You need several copies of the part and you wonder how you can arrange them on your sheet metal in a clever way, so that you end up with as little waste as possible.
And here software could really speed up the process. It would be a great addition to QCADs CAM abilities if it would be able to produce a cutplan.
Enter the size of the sheet metal (or whatever material), select the part(s), enter number of copies and let QCAD find the best way(s) of arrangement. Additional parameters could be clearance between parts and border margin.

Opens an Autocad .dwg file happily (Pro version x64). Allows you to make changes, when you go to save (or save as), you get the “Invalid symbol table name”.
It should figure this out when file is opened and squawk immediately.
Would be extremely useful to get some additional error details that might allow one to diagnose and fix the problem. i.e. “Invalid symbol table name: _” with the name of the offender.
I tried removing unused blocks, no joy.

Hi,
I tried to add a leader and for some reason the arrow does not appear. I found out that this occurs when the line is short. To me, line is sufficiently long enough but somehow QCAD thinks it is too short.

Also when I try to change arrow: no to “yes”, while the dropdown shows yes, I am not able to select it. It just defaults to no.
Workaround: Draw longer line.

Start the Dimension Leader tool, click a point. While the rubber line is active, click the “Arrow head” option to toggle it (the effect is seen on the rubber line immediately). Now click it again to toggle. The entire dimension disappears with no appreciable trace left anywhere. The DL tool stays active.
Expected outcome would be for the dimension to just toggle the arrow head style.
This only seems to happen if this double-toggling is done as long as no segment is actually created yet (i.e. once at least one segment is actually set, the repeated toggling works as expected).

Task Description
I create a drawing using QCAD which is stored using dxflib. For some reasons dxflib must be used. This drawing contains arcs and lines on a separate layer. If the dxf file is processed by an other tool only the arcs are referenced to the specific layer. The lines are referenced to the standard layer 0. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the community edition or the pro edition.
After a some investigations I found that the created dxf file is not correct. I manually corrected the dxf file and it works as it should.
For details please refer to the appended files. Take a look to the ENTITY section and the LINE entities, e.g. line 2370. It is just to swap two entities.
Thanks for support.

I started a drawing with a circle, center at 0,150 and gave 0,0 as coordinate for a point on the circle and got visually nothing. After some head scratching and trying to find some error like locked layer, drawing color the same as background color and such, I found at the location of the center (0,150) a circle with radius 0.
I made the following trials, every time starting with a new drawing, entering everything with the keyboard.
Center point on result
circle
0,150 0,0 circle radius 0 at 0,150 0,150 50,50 circle radius 50 at 0,150 (should be a radius of 111.8 from 0,150 to 50,50) 0,150 0,50 circle radius 50 at 0,150 0,150 50,0 circle radius 0 at 0,150
It seems I always get a circle with the radius of the y-part of the coordinate.

Task Description
When multiple superscripts or subscripts are used in a text field, re-opening the saved dxf file will fail to render all but the first super/subscript element. As per attached example. Bug occurs on all Mac OS X from Mavericks onward.
Minimal reproducible steps: 1. Open new document in QCAD 2. Add a text object 3. Make part of the text sub or super-script 4. Make another part of the text also sub/superscript, with at least one ‘normal’ character between the two sub/superscripts 5. Save file and close it. Don’t have to quit QCAD. 6. Reopen the file. Voila, all but the first sub/superscript element is broken.
Dan.
ps. QCAD is a pretty great piece of software, nice work all.
