Task Description
Often I find myself clicking on an existing line to determine the angle from the property editor, then copying and pasting this info into the angle field, it would be so very useful to have an additional option in the ‘Line from Angle’ tool to be able to pick an existing entity which would automatically register and fill in the angle for me,then all I would need to do would enter the length required.

Task Description
When using the info tools, like the point to point measure it would be useful to be able to select a scale as well.
For example, when I scale a drawing say to 1:20, when working on the scaled drawing I can measure accurately with the measure tool in 1:20 also, without having to keep refering to the 1:1 drawing.

Task Description
Source: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4752
According to the changelog for version 3.9.3 the info tools and coordinate display are tied to the current drawing dimensions. For much of my use I prefer to have the dimensions format different. The main reason is that my customers want to see the format in fractions, but when I am drawing I’d rather see the decimal format to make sure what I am drawing is accurate. So I’d really be interested in seeing a separate full configuration of the display and info coordinates.

Task Description
Hi Andrew,
1. I cannot find a way of selecting individual dimensions and changing the precision lets say from 0.00 to 0.000 for these particular dimensions only without affecting all the rest of the dimensions in the drawing - could an option be added for doing this in the property editor or not?
2. Would it be possible to add an option in the drawing preferences so that automatically a symbol is added at the correct placement fo all dimensions, in this case a tolerance plus/minus symbol?
Many thanks

Task Description
Hi.
I’m working currently a lot with files coming from rhino. Qcad can open them properly any also most operations on them work as usual - except the selection methods.
box select from upper left to lower right works as usual. double click to select all connected entities is broken. (only one entity is selected). box select from lower right to upper left does not select entities touching the selection box. (nothing is selected)
on mac os nothing is selectable with single click. on linux single click sometimes fails (nothing is selected after clicking on a line).
thanks for looking into this :)

1681 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Auto-dimensioning | Assigned
|
Task Description
You can apply the command to Lines, PolyLine segments, Arcs, Circles, and Rings:
For linear entities parallel to an axis of the coordinate system, aligned Dimensions (parallel Dimensions) are created. For linear entities not parallel to an axis of the coordinate system, either aligned Dimensions (measuring the absolute distance between two points) or horizontal or vertical Dimensions (measuring the horizontal or vertical distance between two points) depending on where you move the pointer are created.
For curved entities, you can create radial, diameter, linear, angular, and arc length Dimensions.
To dimension entities:
Click Dimension > Auto (or type AutoDimension). In the graphics area, select an entity to dimension. Click to place the dimension line. To use another dimension type for Circles or Arcs, specify an option: Diameter. Creates a diameter Dimension. Radial. Creates a radial Dimension for an Arc or Circle. Linear. Creates a linear Dimension of the diameter of a Circle or an aligned, horizontal, or vertical Dimension between the end points of an Arc. Angular. Dimensions the angle between the end points of an Arc. Arc length. Dimensions an Arc length. Note: The chosen option is the default the next time you use the AutoDimension command.
When you move the pointer during a linear dimensioning, you can: Lock. Determines the current dimension type (aligned, horizontal, or vertical) regardless where you move the pointer. Unlock. Unlocks the type of linear dimension used. Press Enter.
*** In short, when you use this tool you click on an entity and it will know what dimension you’re looking for. For Circles, you can specify in the command window R or D for Radius or Diameter. This would be extremely useful on large drawings where a lot of dimensioning is to be done. One tool and start clicking on entities for dimensioning.

|
Task Description
Hi,
since 3.19.2 the Stretch tool looks for any selection and follows the specification “Only stretch selected entities if there is a selection”.
That is a nice feature but it leads many times to confusing because I have to deselect a selection just because I need to use the stretch tool on something else on the fly. The same if I “forgot” a selection outside of my zoom which is still important for me. The stretch tool just won’t work without any message why not. My routine now is that I terminate every selection just before I use the stretch tool just not to be surprised by “why isn’t it working”?
It would be nice to have in the Stretch option bar a checkbox to turn the “only selection feature” on or off. QCAD should remember that setting.

1934 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Diametric text - overlaid | Assigned
|
Task Description
Diametric text is always placed above a horizontal measurement.
I often want to indicate both the inside and outside diameter of an object e.g. a wheel using diametric text. The text is overlaid and illegible.
To avoid text overlapping, I use Horizontal Aligned because I can control the position of the text to avoid illegible text.
A better method would be to alternate the placement of diametric text (alternatively) above and below a measurement so that in the majority of cases an overlap would be avoided.
Similarly for a vertical measurement, the text is overlaid and illegible.
When the angle is almost vertical, the angle controls the side the text appears however it also reverses the direction of the text (which is logical but not attractive).
Kind regards Simon

Task Description
Previous Feature Request #1285, dated 2015, incorporated in QCADPro 3.24. I regularly adjust linetype scales on hidden, centreline and phantom lines to achieve the best appearance on the drawing when printed. I note the Paint Properties feature copies all the attributes of the chosen line but does not copy the scale. I have to change the scale of each line, even after ‘painting’. This copying all Properties is something AutoCAD does. I know I could change the line to Hidden2 etc. and tick the ‘scale lines’ box in Drawing Properties but that is not always successful- copying properties is a quick and useful way of achieving the required result. 2272 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Support unit "US survey foot" | Assigned
|
Task Description
In the US, it is (unfortunately) still common to use US survey foot. It seems at least some DXF applications/libraries support this unit as a $INSUNITS value, some references:
There are two issues regarding this with QCAD:
If you open a document with $INSUNITS being 21, it’s reset to 0 (unitless/unspecified) when saved again, even when not changing anything.
It is not possible to select these units in the GUI.
I don’t know about standardization of these values, but my hope is that it’s at least possible to preserve the unit in an existing drawing. Given that this unit is supposed to be obsolete in some years, it might seem less important, but due to this transition, it might get even more important to be able to distinguish between units. Thanks!

2287 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Very Low | Evaluate draw order for preference "Prevent white-on-wh... | Assigned
|
Task Description
The Application Preference setting “Graphics View - Appearance - Prevent white-on-white/black-on-black display” seems to be a global setting that doesn’t take the draw order into account. For example: With the setting enabled, it prevents creating a white hatch of a higher draw order on top of a larger, colored hatch with lower draw order (background). The preference does not seem to evaluate if the object is truly drawn as “white-on-white”.
With the preference enabled, setting the object color as “white” will set the “white” color label, but the object color actually stays black. Its hard to determine why it happens in that case.
Is it possible to let the global preference setting be applied to objects after evaluation of the draw order, and determine if the object actually is a true case of white-on-white?
My workaround: Disable the preference setting (I think it is default = on), and only enable it for ad-hoc checks of hidden and overlooked objects.
