The Snap “Reference” is perfect working on circles.

I would be nice to have this function also on Arc’s.
There are many necessities to attach a Horizontal or Vertical line on an arc or an “ex circle” (circle after a cut,)rounds etc. in a professional drawing.

Possibility to draw Polygons with a given dimension for across flats (not only corners).

Wenn ich das Autosave System richtig verstanden habe funktioniert es so:

Nach Ablauf der eingestellten Zeit wird eine Datei mit Nummer im angegebenen Zielordner abgelegt.
Diese Nummer ist weder fortlaufend noch sicher auf- oder absteigend - also keinerlei Hinweis im Dateinamen für den Anwender welches nun die letzte Sicherung ist.
Ziel scheint zu sein das man eine Sicherung pro Tag hat, richtig?

Allerdings ist die Anzahl der Sicherungen pro Tag abhängig von der Anzahl der neu gestarteten QCAD Sitzungen. Starte ich das Programm einmal für den ganzen Tag habe ich eine einzige Sicherung von jeder bearbeiteten Zeichnung. Sicherungen haben dann die selbe Nummer und werden deshalb jeweils überschrieben.

Starte ich das Programm 10 mal pro Tag habe ich 10 Sicherungen (vorausgesetzt ich bearbeite die selbe Zeichnung in jeder Sitzung) mit unterschiedlichen und nicht in Reihe laufenden Nummern. Sicherungen können somit nicht überschrieben werden und am ende des Tages könnten leicht zig wenn nicht hunderte Sicherungen gespeichert sein.

Würde nun diese Nummer im Dateinamen ersetzt mit dem aktuellen Datum habe ich eine Sicherung pro Tag unabhängig wie oft ich QCAD an diesem Tag gestartet habe. Zudem kann der Anwender gleich den Sicherungstag im Dateinamen erkennen und muss sich nicht durch die “geändert am” Info sekundengenau kämpfen.

Macht das Sinn?

Speziell gedacht für den Mobilen Einsatz wie z.B. auf einen USB-Stick um bei wechselnden PC Einsatzorten immer wieder die einmal gemachten Einstellungen für QCad benutzen zu können.

In meiner Vergangenheit habe ich in anderen CAD Programmen mit folgendem Werkzeug gearbeitet was ich für Detailansichten, Bereinigungen oder ähnliches extrem Hilfreich empfand. Wäre schön wenn es so etwas auch in QCad gebe.

Werkzeug: Man zieht ein Rechteck (oder Kreis) über einen gezeichneten Bereich auf. Alles was innerhalb oder außerhalb des Rechtecks liegt wird kopiert/ausgeschnitten/gelöscht und auch direkt an den Linienkanten des auswählenden Rechtecks geschnitten.

Momentan kann ich ein Rechteck für Selektion bestimmen - muss aber dann nach einer Kopie alles manuell trimmen, löschen etc. um nur den gewünschten Rechteckinhalt zu bekommen ...

Wäre schön wenn das Werkzeug “Lengthen” auch mit Minus Amounts funktionieren würde ....

Das Trim Werkzeug in QCad ist ideal um Linien zu verlängern in Bezug zu einer anderen Linie.
Wäre schön wenn dies auch umgekehrt funktionieren würde so das ich Linien verkürzen kann in Bezug zu einer anderen (nicht schneidenden) Linie.

Eine Zählfunktion die erfasst wie oft ein Block in einer Zeichnung vorhanden ist.

Hintergrund ist das es damit eine Unterstützung gäbe die das erstellen von Stücklisten etc. erleichtert würde.

Die Anzahl der Blöcke könnte z.B in der Block List eingeblendet werden wie z.B.: “Schraube M6x40 (17x)” oder auch in einer extra Text Liste.
Zudem könnten so auch nicht (oder nicht mehr) benutze Blöcke ermittelt werden wie z.B. “Schraube M6x20 (0x)” welche dann aus der Zeichnung entfernt werden könnten.

Blöcke aus dem Editiermodus direkt in der Library speichern zu können wäre eine erheblicher Arbeitsersparnis.

Wenn ich persönlich einen Block in einer Zeichnung erstelle überlege ich mir natürlich gleich ob ich diesen nicht auch in anderen Zeichnungen verwenden könnte. Somit erhalte ich leicht eine Umfangreiche Library die mein Leben leichter macht ....

Blocknamen in einer Zeichnung haben Vorrang gegenüber gleichen Blocknamen aus der Library.

Eine Sicherheitsabfrage wie z.B.: Vorhanden Block überschreiben, ignorieren etc oder neuen Block umbenennen würde viele Überraschungen verhindern.

Ich würde es begrüßen wenn der Library Browser sich seine letzte Fenster Position und Größeneinstellungen “merken” könnte.
Zudem wäre es schön wenn er im letzten Modus öffnen würde - ich benutze zur Zeit überwiegend die Registerkarte “File System” zu der ich dann jedes mal neu navigieren muss.
Auch wäre es schön wenn das Browserfenster minimiert oder in den Hintergrund verschwindet sobald ich ein Symbol in die QCad Zeichenfläche ziehe - momentan kommt es oft vor das ich zwar das Symbol am “Maushaken” habe aber das Browserfenster im Weg ist. Um QCad in den Vordergrund zu holen muss ich die Zeichenfläche anklicken was aber dann natürlich schon das Symbol (an einer falschen Stelle) einfügt ...

Im Zuge einer Zeichnungserstellung entstehen viele Layer.
Auch Library Items oder Kopien aus anderen Zeichnungen können noch viele Layer hinzu bringen.
Um die Übersicht zu behalten sollten deshalb nicht oder nicht mehr gebrauchte “Leere Layer” nach Fertigstellung (oder auch zwischendurch) der Zeichnung entfernt werden.
Diese herauszufinden gestaltet sich als sehr aufwendig weshalb ich eine Kennzeichnung der leeren Layer als sehr nützlich empfinden würde.

Es wäre hilfreich wenn man in der Favoriten Verwaltung des Library Browsers nicht nur einzelne Symbole sondern auch ganze Ordner hinzufügen könnte.

Es wäre schön wenn die “Total Length of selected entities” etwas komfortabler angezeigt würde.

Ich arbeite meistens ohne “Command line”.
Benutze ich das “Info Tool” um die Total Length zu erhalten erhalte ich leider keinen Hinweis wo diese angezeigt wird.
Diese wird nur in der “Command line” angezeigt ....

Zwei Lösungen könnte ich mir vorstellen:
1. Anzeige in der Zeichnung am Mauszeiger ...
2. Anzeige im Property Editor, Geometry, Length (dann natürlich Addiert) anstatt *VARIES*.

Die 2. Lösung halte ich persönlich als die elegante Variante da es eine logisch nachvollziehbare Aussage ist. Zudem erspart es einige Mausklicks auf dem Weg zum Infotool um die gewünschte Info zu bekommen.

Bemaßungen sollten, wenn sie nicht aufgelöst sind, ignoriert werden.

Ich habe versucht die Template Vorlage von Clive (danke dafür!) für meine Bedürfnisse anzupassen.

Für meine Templates benötige ich die Symbole der Projektionsmethode 1 UND die Projektionsmethode 3.

Deshalb habe ich jeweils einen Block für die Symbole entworfen welche in dem Template an der selben Stelle platziert sind und entsprechend ein- bzw. ausgeblendet werden sollen. Beim aufrufen des Templates soll natürlich einer der Blöcke bereits sichtbar sein.

Leider kann ich aber einen Unsichtbar geschalteten Block nicht als solches abspeichern was dazu führt das ich beim aufrufen des Templates mehrere Blöcke sichtbar übereinander habe. Layer kann ich als unsichtbar abspeichern.

Ich sehe sehr viele Verwendungen um mit sichtbaren/unsichtbaren Blöcken ein Template vorzubereiten. Da es mit Layern funktioniert denke ich mir sollte es auch mit Blöcken machbar sein.

Oder ist es ein Bug?

Es wäre schön wenn ich einen Kreis zwischen Elemente platzieren könnte indem ich die Begrenzung nicht durch Punkte sondern durch Elemente angeben könnte. Eine Auswahl von 2-3 Elementen mit/ohne Radius soll den Kreis Geometrisch korrekt an die Begrenzungselemente anschließen lassen.
Hilfskonstruktionen oder der Umweg über Round RN (was allerdings nur bei geraden Linien funktionieren kann) würden dadurch entfallen.

Laienhaft könnte ich mir vorstellen das die Grundlage für diese Funktion bereits in der Round (RN) Funktion existiert ...

Es wäre Hilfreich für eine eigene durchgängige Standardisierung die möglichkeit zu haben Default Texthöhen in den Application/ Drawing Preferences vorgeben zu können.

Perfekt wäre in meinen Augen das man drei Texthöhen vorgeben könnte wie z.B. 2.5mm, 3.5mm, 5mm die bei der Eingabe von Text (oder beim editieren) per Schalter gewählt werden könnten. Das individuelle eingeben von Texthöhen sollte aber zudem beibehalten werden.

Bei der Bemaßung kann ich dies bereits jetzt für eine Texthöhe einrichten ...

Other Line tools are offering Reference Points like: “Start” - “Middle” - “End”.

It would be nice to have the same Reference points for “Relative Angle” and “Orthogonal” lines.

QCad Book

Would be nice to have the index linked (like Bookmarks, Hyperlinks, Jump marks) with the regarding chapter.

So that I just can click in the index what I’m looking for and it jumps directly to the correct chapter.

If I like to import a Bitmap in my drawing I have no possibility to choose a file by a thumbnail bitmap preview. In many cases it is really helpful and I assume it is a sort of standard ....

Case:
Working on a Main Drawing, decide to edit a Block, start the editing process, close the editing process with “Return to Main drawing” and come back to the Main Drawing - but unfortunately to an absolute different View in the Main Drawing ...

It would be nice to come back to the same View (Zoom window) like before I started the editing procedure.

We have already a powerful projection tool in QCAD - the Isometric tool.

It would be nice to have additional a “Dimetric tool” (Ratio 1:0.5:1, Angle 7°/42°) what is often used in the “Engineering world”.
It looks just more professional than the simple Isometric Projections and I’m pretty sure that could open a couple more Customer doors

It would be nice ...

- to be able to use " and / in Block names what is really helpful in the Inch and Fraction world ...

- the ability to overwrite an existing Block what is often much easier/faster than editing a Block

- After selecting a Block you get the info of the Block name in the Property Editor (Geometry / Referenced Block).
If I need to edit this Block I have to go to the Block List - have to search for this name because it is not marked .... and of course it is a long long list.
It would be nice to have a “Edit this Block” Button in the Property Editor / Geometry / Referenced Block dialog ...

Reference Point options (Start, middle, end) also for “Relative angle” and “Orthogonal” .... like the other lines

It would be nice to have the option for a “Short” Extension Line.
This is often used in Architectural drawings.
Yes, I know that I can explode a dimension and change it to that what I’m asking for - but that is really a Sisyphus task and destructs the function of a dynamic Dimension in QCAD.

Task:
Drawing - New from Template ...

My Default Template Folder in “Application Preferences” is on F: (USB Port).
QCAD depicts to C:/Programme/QCAD pro 3.1.2/libraries/templates
(Yes - I started QCAD new after adjusting the default Folder)

QCAD 3.1.5 - has a new “Dimensioning Scale adjustment option” (Property editor/Linear Factor). NICE!!!

What means - we are now able to change the dimension scale for existing dims!

My Feature request refers to new dimensions and I think it would be perfect to have a “Scale Factor - On/Off Option” for all Dim Tools.

That would bring us in the position to copy / scale a part of our drawing for a detail view and we could just use us usual the dimensioning tools (with a scale factor) for the dimensioning task ....

I’m not sure but if this is a duplicate please delete!

Feature Request:
It would be nice to have a tool what will help to draw tangential circles and arcs between other entities.

I imagine this tools with a three entities (circles, lines) selection or two entities plus a radius.

It would be nice if we could use the Stretch tool also on blocks.

There are so many possibility’s to build a really good (time-saving) block-list /library with preassembled parts but if I have always to explode / ruin the block to use the stretch tool doesn’t helps the productivity.

It would be nice to get a status information after the use of the “Search/Replace” tool.

Something like: “5 matches found and replaced”,
or
no “matches found”.

It helps allot to get an Idea what happens in your drawing. Right now the tool window will just disappear and you have no idea about any success.

Bug or Feature request?

Tool “Parallel” is not working on an intact ellipse. If I explode the ellipse it will work but then it turns out to a Sisyphus task ...

if I have an arc and use the Property Editor to get the Geometrical information I always miss the total angle of the arc.

Yes - I have the Start and the End angle but to get the Total angle I have to draw construction lines to be able to use the Angular Dim or Info angle tool /or I need to use a pocket calculator ...

It would be nice to have this calculated by QCAD - I assume it can’t be that difficult to design an extra field which will display, based on the start and end angle, the total angle of an arc.

What do you think?

The new tool “Paste along entity” is very useful! But I work mostly in mechanical engineering and would like to see more options to determine where it has to start with the first insert item.

Screenshot:

1. That is how it works right now - no chance to get it started on both ends of an line.

2. If I need to have my items also on the ends I have to use additional the normal “Paste” function.

3. If I could tell the “Paste along entity” that there is a start and end “Base” dimension then I’m a big step further.

I could tell the tool that it has to start at “0” or at “25” and the rest is just regarding the calculation. Correct?

However - you need many times in mechanical engineering etc. a hole pattern which will start at:

0,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,0

or

25, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 25

It would be very nice to have this also in combination with the “Paste along entity” tool

hi,

I miss one Offset option to use an offset indirectly related to the used entity. Right now I have to work with further construction lines and trim, divide, delete etc. tools to archive what I need.
Basically an offset as a ray would be enough but unfortunately we have no control of the Ray orientation.
This said - it would be nice to have an infinitive line added to the “Offset Polyline Segment” option to be able to use an Offset as construction line which is not only reflecting the shape of the source.

often I’m in the situation that I have to create an additional Layer mostly based on the settings from an already existing Layer. Just a question of organization. This new Layer has then everything identical except the name and one(?) Attribute. This could be that only the color or the Line weight deviates.

Example:

Existing Layer

Layer name: Lot 47 area existing

Attributes

Color: Red

Lineweight: 0.35

Linetype: Dashed

New Layer

Layer name: Lot 47 area proposal

Attributes

Color: Blue

Lineweight: 0.35

Linetype: Dashed

Unfortunately if done manually it happens in an blink of an eye that the human imperfection (me!) makes a mistake and (e.g.) a “Center (.5x)” finds it way into the Linetype Field instead of a “Center (.2x)” ....

The workaround for a few User is to use in cases like this the Property Editor / General Property and customize single Attributes. In my opinion the first step to lose the control over your own drawing ...

A “Copy Layer” / Copy Layer Attributes” function would speed up this task and eliminate to a minimum the “human imperfection” factor.

I could imagine that a right click (like copy block) on the Layer triggers the “Add Layer” function and the dialog is already prefigured with the Settings of the Source Layer ...... ready for editing.
The new Layer itself is “empty” like any other new Layer.

Converting the Drawing unit (CU) in Model Space will ruin all preexisting Viewport arrangements in your Layout Block. You have to rebuilt them from stretch or undo the unit conversion.

As we know it is easy to copy our own hatches (.pat) to QCAD but unfortunately with every QCAD update I’ve to move those files to a new location.

This said - it would be nice to have the possibility to tell QCAD the source for such customized hatch collection. Similar to the “Library Source” feature for the Library Browser.
