Usage states:
“Default is to explode everything into points, lines, arcs and circles”

In this Forum Topic 10358 you explain to use an exclusion list:
“dwgexplode is geared towards exploding everything. You’d have to provide a list of all entity types that are acceptable (i.e. don’t need to be exploded)”

Your example list includes the entity type ‘Splines’.
Marking splines entities as acceptable or not contradicts that they are never exploded.

But in the code itself is stated:
“explode texts to splines, arcs, lines”

TTF text is indeed exploded in mostly splines and some arcs or lines if that is appropriate.

All depends on the intended behavior ...

Steps to reproduce
1. create entity
2. select entity
3. property editor, change color to a custom color
4. deselect entity
5. select entity
6. in property editor, choose custom color

I am a user of Alibre Design. When I export the dxf or dwg from alibre the dimensions are shown outside the sheet models.
I tried with different 2D CADs and only QCad and LibreCad give me this type of error.
Is this something known? Do I need to attach more files to understand the problem?

1) Start with a new fresh drawing
2) draw an object (e.g. Circle)
3) select Layer>Duplicate Layer
4) Proposed name “0 Kopie” is ok, and maybe change color
5) New Layer “0 Kopie” is created but no objects in this copied layer.
6) Select original layer and select Modify>Detection>Detect Duplicates
=⇒ there you find the copy of your layer content twice

File > Open should not preselect the dxflib filter but All Files.

Caused by changed order of loading plugins.

Scale value is not loaded from drawing and shown as 1:1 if the scale is stored as a number.

It seems that Attribute Definitions are created by default with Invisible = Yes
I can’t control this property on creation.
I can select the newly created Attribute Definition and toggle the flag.

Consequence when not updating this flag for each new Attribute Definition is that inserted Block Attributes disappear on synchronizing.
See attached files.

The default Invisible = Yes setting is not retained on save/reload.
(You will probably discover these flags to be ‘No’ in the attached files)
Synchronizing after a reload has no longer the mentioned consequence.

On inserting a Block Reference based on a Block with Attribute Definitions the Invisible flag of new Block Attributes is always ‘No’.
InsertBlock.js nor InsertBlockItem.js consider the Attribute Definition Invisible flag status when creating and inserting a new RAttributeEntity object.
e.g.: InsertBlock.js L184-L206

IMHO:
- Invisible = Yes on creation is not the best default for new Attribute Definitions.
- Not retaining this flag on save/reload is probably not intended.
- Disregarding the Attribute Definitions Invisible flag on block insertion seems incorrect.

The last version (3.29.4) present a very important issue.
When we work with a “complicated” file (about >1MB or up see attachment test.dwg) the cursor and selected object not work fine after move some layout windows in Paper_Space: disappear coordinates informations and snap nodes. (see attachment before.png an after.png)
This issue is present in all Qcad version (Linux, Mac-intel, Mac-silicon, Windows).
The last working-fine version is 3.28.2
I’m a enthusiastic Qcad user and I hop that this issue will be fixed early!

I’m seeing only a partial hatch in the shape. See here for details.

Clicking “Set to Printer Margins” has no effect.

The option “true scale” has no effect, projected result does not use true scale.

tested with back_plate.dxf (QCAD Tutorial Example)

Drawing is original mm, metric, A4. Printprewiew works, Autofit Drawing to page etc. works as expected!

In Drawing Preferences: Changed settings to inch, imperial, Ansi A
Printpreview works but options like
“Autofit Drawing to page” and “Autofit pages to drawing” are not working as usual ...

Went back to mm etc - everything works again as expected.

In the “layer list” header qcad uses a pencil icon for “edit layer”.
But the exact same symbol means something different just below.
In the layer list the pencil seems to mean “current layer”, and it not clickable,
though the eye icon next door is.

In short: it’s confusing that clicking the pencil in the layer list does not, say, edit the layer.

When using PDF Export I see different lineweight to using dwg2pdf. See Different lineweights PDF Export vs dwg2pdf

If nesting preference “Place small parts into holes of other parts” is disabled there may be fewer solutions or no solution if rotations is set to 1.

Affected tools: Insert Bitmap (keep proportions), Rotate (by mouse), Scale (by mouse).

Label position is only reset on reload / entity regeneration.

Context menu of dimension text label line edit widgets offers a <> entry which does not insert <>.

When screen-based linetypes are enabled, the zoom box width depends on the zoom level and can get very wide / thin.

Exception in CAM simulation when previewing tool position.

Layer groups are not present. See attached screenshot and link.
In screenshot....3.28 is on the left, 3.29 on the right.

If I draw a ‘control points’ spline, it draws fine. If I draw (or open a file with...) ‘fit points’ spline, then that spline type wont’ display. (see attached video)

* If I ‘select all’, then the fit points will display/highlight; however, the spline itself does not display.

From the looks of it the cursor image data is read at a wider pace as it is stored.
One can distinguish the double cross positioning QCAD cursor but it is shifted.

hello. if i use the tool on my own drawing, no problem, but on an element coming from the library, the blue selection square appears, it moves but the chosen shape doesn’t follow. i’ve tested several ways and even by creating a block. cordially

I need to print some drawings amd the decimal separator is a ‘?’ instead of ‘.’.

Mi versión is QCAD 3.28.2.0, revision a8039fc, Qt version 5.13.2, architecture x86_64, and the OS is Windows 10.

Reason:
LaserBase.js should not only make CamPlungeRate and CamPlungeRate_Label invisible, but also set a default value, such as zero.

Printing / PDF export with crop marks enabled fails with Qt 6 packages macOS on M1/M2/M3.

I can not add or remove Points to existing Spline

When using SV / RO commands and using the checkbox to ‘use the mouse’ for scaling / rotating, then that setting is not retained at the next use. So every time the command is executed, a mouse move to check the box must be performed.

Flytracker appears to have the same problem, as this report was rejected when I inserted the same characters into the title. Query {SELECT tag_id FROM `flyspray_list_tag` WHERE (project_id=0 OR project_id=?) AND tag_name LIKE ? ORDER BY project_id} with params {1,} Failed! I display different fonts in three different CAD software. QCAD displays incorrectly (text display width is incorrect). The attachment is three different CAD display effects. The red mark is where QCAD displays errors.

On macOS 14.1 and QCAD 3.28.2, the state of the OS (light or dark theme) affects some of the QCAD colour palette for the life of the session. So far I’ve noticed the problem with the keyboard shortcuts in tooltips and text in the command line output, but there may be other instances of the problem.

To reproduce:

1. Set the OS to light mode.

2. Start QCAD. Note the keyboard shortcuts in the tooltips are optimised for a light palette.

3. With QCAD still running, switch the OS to dark mode.

4. Note that while most of the QCAD interface switches to a dark mode palette, the keyboard shortcuts in the tooltips do not.

A similar behaviour is observed when starting from dark mode and switching to light mode.

I hope that makes sense. See attached screenshots for examples.

In some cases Draw > Ellipse > Inscribed in Quadrilateral (EQ) may return a perfectly healthy result but rotated for 90 degrees.
- Size doesn’t matter.
- Quadrant doesn’t matter.
- Geometrical open or closed base shape doesn’t matter.
- A mirrored base shape usually preforms well.

The incorrect results (red) are rotated 90 degrees around the ellipse center (dotted)
Green is a correct result from a mirrored base shape.

The rulers/ruler ticks disappeared after updating to 3.28.2.4 for Mac.

This tool is also being used outside of the part library browser context by some users.

- Create a block reference to block “A” - Duplicate block reference
- Nest both block references

Only one block reference is nested, the other one is not placed.

Some colored lines are exported as black on macOS M1 / Qt 6.

All I get when I print is an “A1”, which I believe is the drawing size

Discovered in writing a custom tool:
hatchEntity.setCustomProperty(”MijnEPB”, “Ruimte”, roomData.numberText);
Works perfectly and I can retrieve the room numbers of all semi-automatically placed hatches in this instance of QCAD.

But I can not store and reload this file with these custom properties to use them in a new QCAD session.
I then assume the title must be ‘QCAD’.
Then I wonder how QCAD handles custom properties by other CAD applications.
Are they also removed on loading/writing?

QCAD doesn’t list these custom properties in the Property Editor.
Here hidden was fine unless they are not stored with the document.

Is it even possible to store them in the drawing file?
Why is the title a required variable when it can’t differ from ‘QCAD’?
Would it be possible to list them up in the Property Editor because I know they are filtered on title ‘QCAD’.

For now I revert to:
hatchEntity.setCustomProperty(”QCAD”, “EPB-Ruimte”, roomData.numberText);
Similar as the CAM tool that uses ‘Cam....’ for all keys.

For the dutch translations:

- The tooltip for the close icon of a tab is “Close tab”

“Sluit tab”.

- When the drawing was changed the confirmation dialog second option is “Discard”

“Verwerpen” or “Niet opslaan”.
... Reading several discussions the latter is the better translation.

- Found in the Drawing Prefs and also used in the App.Prefs (DIMLUNIT):

.> Tekeningsvoorkeuren
..> Bemating
...> Bematingsvoorkeuren
....> Tekstformaat
.....> Liniaire bemating

This must be “Lineaire bemating”

-u / -multiplier switch has no effect (option applied to later during initialization of nester).

In QCAD Pro, I found that setting the application preference to disable “Text above dimension line” does not transfer to new drawings.

Demonstration procedure follows:

Fresh install QCAD Pro (no previous config file);

Edit –> Application Preferences

Under “Defaults for New Drawings”, select “Dimension Settings”

Under “Dimension Style”, “Text above dimension line” is enabled by default. Uncheck it, then press Apply button.

Change one or more other settings; for instance “Linear Dimensions” to Decimal, or the Precision. Press Apply button accordingly.

Press OK button to dismiss Application Preferences.

Quit out of QCAD Pro.

Reopen QCAD Pro. Create something that can be dimensioned, and dimension it. Label will appear above the dimension line.

Edit –> Drawing Preferences

Under “Dimension Style”, “Text above dimension line” is checked, contrary to the Application Preference setting. The other preference settings are in effect.
