Hello,

There is some issues with the snap tool and the selection tool.The trim button only trims some lines but not all.

1. The snap tool does not let me snap to certain things when i select something. For example i will select a box and i will try to extend the corner to another entities corner but the snap is not there so its free and thus not accurate.

2. For some reason the selection tool does not allow me to select certain things. If i have two boxes overlapping and i use the selection tool (from right to left “green selection box”) it does not allow me to select what i want i have to actually click it. This is annoying when it comes to selecting specific things.

3. The trim tool does not work properly.If i want to trim the inside of a cross hair or such, it only allows me to trim the inside of one line and if i try to trim the other it deletes the complete line.

Please fix as soon as possible. Thanks

QCad 3.19.2 Professional, 64bit, Linux Mint

Case:
1. Open some drawing with viewport entities on layout block (paper scace). Print Preview mode is “On” automatically.
2. Switch to “Black/White Mode” from toolbar and move cursor on “Viewport” enteties. This entitie is not highlighted. With other enteties all works as expected.
In “Full Color Mode” and “Grayscale Mode” no problems.

For example can try on “flange.dxf”

QCad 3.19.2 Professional, 64bit, Liux Mint

Case:
1. We have drawing with hierarchical layers.
2. When try for example to lock all layers from “Layer List Widget” by clicking to “Toggle lock” at Parent Layer. Then locked are all layers in this group. Same is with “Toggle snappable”, “Toggle plottable”, “Toggle frozen”. All works as expected. But “Toggle visibility” works only on this one parent layer.

QCad 3.19.2 Professional, 64bit, Liux Mint

Case:
1. Create some block with attributes.
2. Insert this bock into “Model Space” or “Paper Space”.
3. Edit this block. Rename some Attribute names (tag, prompt).
4. And when in “Model Space” or “Paper Space” Synchronize Attributes, we have in properties old and new attributes.

I’m not able to open or save a file using the open/save file dialog.
When I change the Look in: directory nothing happens.
Even when I click on My Computer or Chris.

The same applies to saving files.

QCAD start,
Application Preferences:
Units: inch
Dim: Fractions

Changed the Drawing Preferences to:
Units: mm
Dim: Decimal

Design a Dim and it will be created with the mm/Deci settings - as expected,

Select now the Dim - activate the ISO Tool - the try to determine the reference point fails / it’s way of the clicked point and now the produced ISO Projection will use the attributes for DIM’s from the “Application Preferences” setting - hmmmmmmm, not as expected

Projecting text into an isometric plane crashes QCAD - unless the text is first exploded, which is not always an acceptable appearance.

If I use the isometric tools for a text QCAD will keep a construction Box as a leftover ...

When using the ‘Cylindrical’ isometric tool, the projection does not draw to pre-selected layer in the layer list. This is only achieved when changing the layer in the property editor first. Have not tested this with other projection tools.

Implement isometric projection tool

The spacing of the isometric grid is not updated correctly, if the grid spacing is not set to ‘auto’ but fixed values and the isometric grid is switched on using the menu or tool bars:
- Set grid to orthogonal grid, spacing fixed: 1/1
- Set meta grid to orthogonal grid, spacing fixed: 10/10
- Switch to isometric grid using menu or tool bar buttons

Switch grid from orthogonal to isometric.

It would be a nice feature to be able to create an isometric projection of a bitmap.

I am trying to perform an iso projection of an ellipse that represents a circle of radius 10. I get the debugger launch with the following error.

ISO project: circles and arcs as ellipses

Arcs in texts (e.g. dimension labels) should be projected as ellipse arcs, not polylines.

I’m waiting for a Debian installation

To reproduce:

1. File – New
2. Create a new layer (layer 1)
3. Draw an horizontal infinity line
4. Duplicate “layer 1” (layer 1 Copy)
5. Hide “layer 1 Copy” 6. Try to select the line in “layer 1”

What happens: It’s not possible to select the line in the visible layer (layer 1) if the line is present in the duplicated layer (layer 1 Copy) and that layer is either hidden or locked.

Expected: It should be possible to select the line, as the overlapping line in the other layer is hidden/locked .

A block with attributes inserted into Model_Space can’t be made completely invisible with the invisible switch (Eye icon) in the block list. It works for entities but not on attributes.

Starting with 3.7.7 I noticed, that some parts in drawings are missing: affected are some circles and (some) closed splines. These were created with earlier releases of qcad3.

Attached a file that has two circles, only one of them showing at first (drawn in 3.8.0); set line-display “screen” (NL command) to see the other (drawn earlier). From the dxf serialization (dxflib or teigha does not matter) I do not see where that should stem from or how to fix this.

At zero degrees there is a little dot though, and also, only certain dashed line-types “hide” the (outer only) circle.

Filed under Ubuntu, not tested on windows etc.

If I use in an area with invisible Blocks the “rectangular selection” in “lower left to upper right” direction for a move/copy, mirror, clipboard etc. action - a warning window appear. Also the reference points of the invisible blocks are visible.

If I use the “rectangular selection” in upper right to lower left direction everything works as expected.

Inverting the current selection is significantly slower than select all, deselect all or other selection tools.

During saving file I’m getting information “Invalid Symbol Table name error”. Problem is already known so i tried to follow the instructions given to other users by you. I’ve tried to change spaces to _ symbol in the layers names or deleting polish specific letters but there was no change. I was able to find out that the problem is related only to four layers named: A_ciany... When I delete these layers I’m able to save file without error message. Can you tell me what’s wrong in these layers? I’ve tried to change names of these layers but problem still exists. Best regards.

I have got a dwg file from architect, which I can open, but I get “Invalid symbol table name” when I try to save it. I do not know which software was used to create it.
I have tried to change all spaces and national characteds in block and layers names as advised elswhere, but that didn’t help.

Trying to build a hatch area sometimes results in “invalid hatch area”. It would be nice if QCAD could give a hint why / where the problem occurs (where is “line too long” or “not closed”).

QCAD hangs up in Scaling task when invalid value given: example .0.50
Inadvertently entering two decimal points hangs it up.

QCAD3.ini may contain invalid positions for the main application windows, e.g.
[Appearance]
Position.X=-32000
Position.Y=-32000

This leads to an invisible main window after starting QCAD under Windows systems.

The intersection between an ellips and a tangent is not détected.
Demonstration

Using tool split 2.
When clicking on part 1 of the circle only part 1 is removed.
When clicking on part 2 of the elipse part 2 and part 3 are removed. The intersection with the tangent is not found.

Text font changes when saving and reloading the file.
Original text before saving:

Help - Reference Manual does not have any effect on Windows.

I would like to see the installer not stop because there is already a version of QCAD installed. This is the only product that I have used in recent history that requires the prior version to be uninstalled before the new version can be installed.

Please consider removing this requirement and let the installer do an update.

After each update, I add a dot before the ~user/opt folder (and in the program launcher) created by QCAD to unclutter my file manager’s appearance. Would be easy, I think, to make the installer put the program directly in ~user/.opt, and nobody would miss that folder while browsing through daily used files.

And what about installing the program as root, so all users of a computer could use it without personal installs, and only personal setting files created by users would be kept in ~user/.opt/qcam.

- Create a part library item with file name “Test1 .dxf” (note the space at the end of the base name)
- Insert this part library item into a blank drawing
- Try to save the drawing
- Error “Invalid Symbol Table Name” occurs

Hi

Long time no see - so long that I’ve had to reregister. I must be getting a bit better (though I only do pretty basic stuff).

I often have to trace an actual paper drawing, so I scan it in as a jpeg and insert in the usual way. For a while now, this has become difficult to do because however often I send the image to back or bring the polyline to the front, just moving my mouse over the photo (not selecting it) makes the line disappear and I’ve got a bit fed up with trying to work around this (I don’t think it was always like this?)

I’ve attached my current example (there’s only a single image in it at the moment), and thank you in advance for your patience and help.

Insert Measurement / e.g. Point to Point fails within Coordinate (SX) dialog. It is offered for X and Y but I can’t find a way to use it. For a proper measurement with IP I need to use Autosnap etc. but that means I have to switch from Coordinate snap to an other snap with no way to return to use the d1 variable.

To reproduce the issue: Insert a Library item from the Library browser and the RZ point will stay where it is.
