Help - Reference Manual does not have any effect on Windows.

When we create a draft in version 2.2.2 we put dashed lines and the length is 0. We see a dash lines. (see attach file).

When we open the same draft in the version 3.3.2 we don’t see the dashed lines we see a continous lines.

If I changed in the dxf this lines DASHED 370 0 per DASHED 370 5 and changes the preference of the drawing it’s work.

But we don’t want to open all of 180000 drawings to change the length of the dashed lines from 0 to 5. We want that the version 3 print the dashed lines as the version 2.

Line pattern factor for zero weight lines defaults to 0 which can lead to division by zero.

Entering a coordinate (e.g. 20,20) results in direct distance entry instead (angle from relative zero to mouse pointer, length 20).

Just started using v.3.4.2 under Linux Mint 14. To begin with I could not print my drawing in color. Worked out that this was due to the default printer setting (driver hpcups 3.12.6) which was Draft Grayscale. My drawing printed in color fine when I changed this. I believe that it ought to be possible to set this from within QCAD, but the dialog “Print>[printer]Properties>Advanced” is blank. Has it been disconnected somehow?

Layer and block names with leading / trailing spaces lead to exception when saving file through Teigha.

When a drawing is placed in X,Y coordinates QCAD is unable to zoom to the drawing.

We use X,Y coordinates like X=182,635,000 mm Y=579,005,000 mm for the location of the constructions.

If you use Auto Zoom you get to see a small dot on the screen but as soon as you try to zoom to the drawing QCAD jumps within a certain limit and you can’t get to the drawing.

Since today, QCAD fails to load my drawings, with the following error message in the console:

Warning: RBlockReferenceData::getBoundingBox: maximum recursion depth reached: block: “Drukknop”

The block in question is the AREI (Belgian standard for symbols in electrical installations) symbol for a “button” light switch.
It’s a small and simple drawing (see attachment).

I’ve added a lot of these buttons in the drawing since the previous version, but there were some already present, and this never caused problems.

QCAD crashes when saving a drawing that has a block attribute added.
This happens both with a block and the exploded version of the block.

Please find attached the system info, as well as an example drawing.
In this drawing, there are three boxes. The lower 2 boxes are intended to contain text attributes.

Draw > Polyline > Trim Segments crashes if QCAD is compiled using gcc 4.2.1 which is the case for the Mac OS X package.

- Copy two block references of block “circle” which contains one circle
- Paste into new, empty drawing
- Pasted block “circle” contains two circles

Hello,

I am stage manager and I have been using QCAD PRO nearly every day for 2 years now.
But since yesterday it seems that text is not saved within the file : when I reopen a saved file, text doesn’t show up. Do I miss a setting ?
I currently run Mac OS X Mavericks but there haven’t been any issues with this OS for months.

I deleted the app and prefs and tried out with 3.6.0 (which I don’t use because it often quits brutally), and also the free version of 3.6.4
But the issue still the same.

As I use this app for my work, it is very annoying not to be able to use text !

Selecting the polyline is not possible.
Possibly related to update of DrawPolyline tool.

Hatches in blocks cause poor performance while (auto-)snapping.
The lines that make up those hatches are included in the search for intersection points which is not desirable.

I would like to suggest a small, but yet important improvement to usabilty.

When adding a new layer the currently selected layer should be default for parent layer.

Currently a new layer is by default a top level layer, and so the user has to select the parent layer for each sub-layer, again and again.

Aligned dimensions are not displayed correctly after loading. Definition point and text position are set to NaN.

When paper unit being change to other values (other than default “Milimeter” or “None”), the paper borders are wrongly displayed in print preview.
The attachment screenshot images is for example.
1, Edit →Drawing Preferences →Drawing Unit →Pager Unit, choose the value “Centimeter”.
2, Edit →Drawing Preferences →Page →Pager →Paper size, choose the value “ISO A4”.
3, File →Print Preview, the displayed print borders are wrongly displayed as a very narrow rectangle, which is obviously wrong.

Anonymous blocks (with names starting with *, imported from other software) can be mixed up on writing.

Likely affects Windows Vista, 7, 8.

im’ trying the 3.9.6 base version, and i have found a problem in printing/exporting..

To replicate the bug:
Try to draw a simple form, for ex a circle, and draw a center of this circle using POINT function.

Now if you make a print preview, then CENTER the circle in the page and try to export to pdf or print, the circle and the POINT (center) are ofsetted !!

i have try to make the same operation with 3.9.5 and i have no problem !!!

If custom complex linetypes embedded in a file refer to a font that is not available for linetype shapes, the file cannot be opened.

i have find another strangeware about points.. if you set a different point style in program options, on the display the style is correct, but when you try to print or export the drawing, the points are printed as default “point” (little black circle).

Points move by a constant offset relative to the rest of the drawing when printing or exporting to PDF.

This is the exact same bug as  FS#1243 , which was reportedly fixed in version 3.9.7 with commit https://github.com/qcad/qcad/commit/9c9d7bbc3fd845b8475ff12a919ad8e86bbaeb1f, but has resurfaced in version 3.12.4 (and possibly earlier versions that I have not tested).

To replicate the bug, create a simple drawing with points and lines then print or export to PDF, and notice that the points have moved relative to the lines or have disappeared off of the page entirely.

Tested with Arch Linux, 64 bit; QCAD version 3.12.4 using the prebuilt binaries supplied from the qcad.org download site.

Text with subscripts (e.g. “S\S^3;”) is display incorrectly with the latest version on both Mac OS X and windows 64-bit.

The subscript (”3”) is displayed before the normal text (”S”).

I have been using subscripts to indicate electrical switch types on my blue prints.

It appears that superscripts are also being displayed incorrectly.

When opening a .dxf file saved by QCAD with a name containing a special characters (tested with diacritics), it fails with the following message:

Cannot open file
'E:/tèst1.dxf'
Import failed.

How to reproduce:
1 - Save a file (content doesn’t matter, it’s the same with an empty file and a file containing data) using the name “tèst1.dxf” 2 - Try to open the file
3 - Error message

What is expected:
The file open.

Note that the problem doesn’t lie in the “save” step: the same file, once renamed to “test1.dxf” opens fine.

- Import drawing from other CAD application with dimension blocks (*D..)
- Save file with QCAD
- Dimension blocks are exported to drawing file but are empty which can break compatibility with other products

Unsupported XData type NOT imported errors on loading DWG files.
Resulting lines in image are not drawn correctly.

Printer settings cannot be changed for model space.

I am a new qcad pro user and created a simple drawing and saved as DXF R27 and closed the app. I reopen the app and open that DFX and the app crashes. However, I can import it. I suspect (without any evidence) that the text in the dimension of the drawing is the problem. Perhaps this issue is like #1261

Scaling without keeping the aspect ratio fails to scale an arc to an ellips when this is part of a polyline.

Trimming polylines especialy those with a string of small segments should be done at the intersection of those polylines.
Now trimming is done with the seggments that where the nearest when selecting the two polylines.

Configure QCAD to use native file dialogs
Load file
Export file as PDF, SVG, Bitmap
File name suggested by file dialog is drawing file which means user might accidentally overwrite drawing file.

as I saw in the svg file and tried it, the ‘stroke-dasharray’ parameter needed (with values) to show the line same as in the editor.

Example:

Application crashes when entering 0 in the scale option while pasting a spline.

This is an issue also when entering scale factors of less than 1, as the application immediately crashes when entering the 0 digit.
As a workaround for a scale factor of e.g. 0.5, one can enter 1.5 and then edit the 1 digit to 0.

Loading the appended dxf-file should show a circle and an ellipse.
The circle is ok.
The ellipse gets always an ellipse with center at (0|0),
main vertex at (1|0) and ratio of 1.

... ? I reported this already some days ago, but the task doesn’t show up in the list? ...

Comparing ‘Preview’ and ‘Printout’ - NOT o.k. ! Elements are missing
(Rem: in the QCAD sketch itself, the missing elements are in a separate layer; however, anyway - preview should show the same image as the printout !?)

Please use the offscreen platform plugin for headless systems
(without a running X11 server):
./qcad -platform offscreen

In addition, you might have to override the default Qt style
to prevent the loading of a native desktop style (such as GTK):
./qcad -style plastique

I have tested this in version 3.22.1 too and get the same result. Reverting all the way back to 3.13.1 results in an operable version of qcad when working on the same file and library blocks.

QCAD Professional 3.23.0 is using en_US keyboard layout although I have a Finnish keyboard on Fedora 29. I have not found a way, how to chance the keyboard definition. In Fedora repositories there is QCAD Community Edition 3.22.1, and keyboard definitions there are working OK. Keyboard layout is following Gnu desktop keyboard selection and can be changed on the fly. Wrong keyboard layout makes working very hard, because almost all special keys are in different places, like colon, semicolon, plus, minus, parentheses, slash etc.

Nosing around in the QCAD Reference Manual I noticed a misperception in the Mirror / Flip commands.

Crash when drawing contains viewports.

wrong objects are selected while selecting region with mouse.
Actions:Trying to select small rectangle area using mouse while holding left mouse button. (ScreenShot_1.png)
Expected result: only objects inside selection rectangle (text, lines, rectangles) are selected.
Factual result: objects inside selection rectangle are selected as well as other objects which are farther away (marked with purple arrows in ScreenShot_2.png)

Englisch:
A text that ends with a line break is displayed incorrectly.

I think the \P should be passed to the program to create the line break. Unfortunately it is taken over directly into the text.

Ich denke mal das \P sollte an das Programm weitergegeben werden um den Zeilenumbruch zu erzeugen. Leider wird es direkt in den Text mit übernommen.

Recently I found out that tabs (CAM module) are only visible on layer 0. If I turn this layer off, all tabs will disappear. It is very inconvenient for someone who create a drawing using multiple layers. Im my case, layer 0 contains the frame and the info table only. When the drawing is ready and verified, I add a layer with a copy of the drawing just for g-code generation. I do it in that way because the drawing sometimes has to be modified for cnc purposes. Please correct this problem.

Tested on: QCAD/CAM Pro 3.27.6
PC with Windows 10.

Long time no see - so long that I’ve had to reregister. I must be getting a bit better (though I only do pretty basic stuff).

I often have to trace an actual paper drawing, so I scan it in as a jpeg and insert in the usual way. For a while now, this has become difficult to do because however often I send the image to back or bring the polyline to the front, just moving my mouse over the photo (not selecting it) makes the line disappear and I’ve got a bit fed up with trying to work around this (I don’t think it was always like this?)

I’ve attached my current example (there’s only a single image in it at the moment), and thank you in advance for your patience and help.
