Task Description

2307 | QCAD/CAM | Feature Request | Low | Tools to create dogbones or corner overcut | Assigned
2 |
Task Description
The inside corners of profile tool paths have rounded inside corners. This occurs because the rounded outside the bit cannot make it all the way into the corner of the feature. Think of tracing the inside wall of a cardboard box with a can of soup. The can makes direct contact with the box walls, but its round shape is unable to completely fit into the tight corners— there’s always a gap.
In a dog-bone overcut (see the figure in attachment), the inside profile corner is enlarged into a semicircle, allowing the sharp edges of the mating piece to slide through without interference.
When a dog bone is applied to the inside corners, as shown in the second figure in the attachment, the joints fit together nicely!
The following website explains what should be implemented More elegant CNC dogbones
There are two ways to implement this tool. Either you modify the original design (as implemented in Fusion 360) or you can do it at the moment you define the tool path (Estlcam allows you to do this for example). See the feature Corner overcut, on Estlcam website

Task Description
Not sure how complicated this one might be to develop/implement ?
But a tool for copying/pasting entities along a given path would be great. In the attached snapshot you can see what I am trying to acheive - to copy/paste the brick along a wall contour. A dedicated tool for doing something like this would be great...sure I can do it with the tools provided in QCAD already but it sure would make life so much easier if there was a tool specific for this kind of thing. I am actually working on some ‘real’work projects with these requirements and it does take a bit of time to get correct!
Or maybe an additional Points tool option to plant points along a curve would be good!

Task Description
Because modifying hatches have lag issues I’d like to propose a toggle that turns of the redrawing/rendering of the hatch. Especially while modifying the hatch.
The hatches always have a boundary that can be worked with right? So when we move or stretch the hatch we can still see the boundary and its handles to perform all the actions.
This could be a new view mode that turns of the view of the interior/pattern of the hatch but leave the boundary of the hatch. Or the draft mode can be extended to include simplified hatches while modifying.

Have tried exploding them in qcad etc, but nothing.

1096 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | SVG import: support scale transforms | Closed
1 |
Task Description
Add support for scale transforms in SVG import.
Original report:
When importing an SVG created with Inkscape, one of the elements (rectangle) is shifted (mirrored?) to the left. The example (back.svg) is appended. If you open it with Inkscape, you see the rectangle should be above the “USB” label.
My impression is that the sign of the X coordinate is swapped for some reason. At least if I mirror it using two points on the Y axis, it seems to appear where it should be.
Apart from this, also the dimensions are wrong after import. In the original SVG, the outer shape is 144.3mm wide. This is also visible in the header of the SVG:
width="144.300mm"
height="53.800mm"
However, after importing to QCad, the width is measured as 40.7247. This is a puzzling factor of 3.5433 which doesn’t look like metric/imperial conversion issue but like a complete misinterpretation of the sizes/units used in the SVG.

1856 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | SVG import: add support for rotate transformations with ... | Closed
|
Task Description
QCAD seems either to mishandle or ignore svg group transformations altogether.
Importing the attached file into QCAD renders the largest polygon (polygon18) to be rotated and misplaced. This is shown in actual.png. The expected result (original Inkscape renedering) is shown in expected.png.
Looking at the code of the original drawing it can be observed there is a transformation applied to the group which polygon18 is in:
<g
style="stroke-width:0.35433099;stroke-miterlimit:4;stroke-dasharray:none"
id="g20"
transform="rotate(-90,316.66796,298.95141)" >
<path
inkscape:connector-curvature="0"
id="polygon18"
d="..." />
Removing the ‘transform’ attribute produces virtually identical (erroneous) rendering in Inkscape as well.

Task Description
Complete SvgImporter.js and SvgImport.js
Implement SvgImporter.prototype.importFile to import the SVG file with the given fileName. Reading only all path data without any attributes or transformations is fine as a first step. SvgImporter.prototype.importFile() currently imports one hard coded path data as proof of concept.
Implement SvgImport.prototype.beginEvent() to show a file open dialog that lets the user choose an SVG file to import.
Support SVG as file format for part library items through SvgImporter
This should be enough to import any SVG file in library/symbols

916 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | SVG export: make zero line width behaviour configurable | Closed

Task Description
Somewhere in the 3.1 series the SVG exporter (both precise and PG) started to make lines that are zero (0) width in CAD 0.01 (@scale 1:1) points wide in exported files (0.1 @scale 1:10). I use such lines to constrain exported files to a common size and rather not have them show. In my view, this is a regression, as there is no reason for changing line weight, isnt it? If I wanted the lines to have weight, I’d draw them with a weight.

2272 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Support unit "US survey foot" | Assigned
|
Task Description
In the US, it is (unfortunately) still common to use US survey foot. It seems at least some DXF applications/libraries support this unit as a $INSUNITS value, some references:
There are two issues regarding this with QCAD:
If you open a document with $INSUNITS being 21, it’s reset to 0 (unitless/unspecified) when saved again, even when not changing anything.
It is not possible to select these units in the GUI.
I don’t know about standardization of these values, but my hope is that it’s at least possible to preserve the unit in an existing drawing. Given that this unit is supposed to be obsolete in some years, it might seem less important, but due to this transition, it might get even more important to be able to distinguish between units. Thanks!

1098 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Support for set of layers | Assigned
|
Task Description
Many constructions refer to a basis of elements, which stay constant in all follow-ups. As an example there is a floorplan and I would like to create different variations of room layout (e.g. A and B). In my example the basis consists of 30 layers an each variation needs 10 further ones. At last there are 50 different layers in my drawing. Designing layout A needs layer 1 to 30 (basis) and 31 to 40 (A) to be shown, but 41 to 50 (B) must be invisible. Now I modify Var.B which makes me to single click the visibility of 31 to 40 (A) to be not shown and 41 to 50 (B) to be shown. You’ve got it?
It would be great help, to save the set of all shown layers by an individual name in a pulldown-menu. Visibility of my variations could be chosen by userdefined “set of layers”, e.g. “Var-A”, “Var-B” and “Var-A_but_different”. In this way I pick just one set-name in my pulldown-list instead of marking and demarking between countless layers.
In my opinion this tool would be a small aspect in QCad but a giant leap for user-pleasentness

There is one important ACAD feature that I would really like to see supported in QCAD3 and that is “Layouts”
Looking at the block lists, it seems to me that it can’t be too much extra work to support it, since the model space and different paper spaces are already shown there - and one can edit it.
QCAD draws infinitely easier than ACAD and drawing layouts is a primary feature of ACAD. With this in QCAD I can hardly see why anyone that does 2D work would need ACAD at all.
