The -block argument should allow layout names instead of block names (which are not persistent for layout blocks).

If a file is opened whose filename contains an ampersand, the filename will be rendered correctly in the application titlebar, but the tab bar and the Window menu will not display the ampersand.

If, however, the ‘alt’ key is pressed, the ampersand will result in an underscore appearing beneath the character immediately following it in the filename string. This applies both to the titlebar and the Window menu.

Interestingly, this can be “exploited” by a user to quickly switch between tabs by pressing ‘alt’ and the character which follows the ampersand simultaneously. Likewise, a user can swap between windows using the Window menu in a similar fashion, by first pressing Alt+W, then Alt and the same key as before.

The expected result is that the ampersand is rendered, the underscore is not rendered, and the ‘alt’ key shortcuts don’t work.

It would appear that this is a simple case of failing to properly escape the ampersand in filenames before passing the filename string to various Qt methods.

During saving file I’m getting information “Invalid Symbol Table name error”. Problem is already known so i tried to follow the instructions given to other users by you. I’ve tried to change spaces to _ symbol in the layers names or deleting polish specific letters but there was no change. I was able to find out that the problem is related only to four layers named: A_ciany... When I delete these layers I’m able to save file without error message. Can you tell me what’s wrong in these layers? I’ve tried to change names of these layers but problem still exists. Best regards.

Application Preferences:
Edit > Application Preferences > Graphics View > Text Rendering: Render text as paths

Drawing Preferences:
Edit > Drawing Preferences > Dimensions > Dimension Settings > Label font: Standard (or other CAD font)
Edit > Drawing Preferences > Dimensions > Dimension Settings > Label color: By Layer (or fixed color)

Cannot send items to back, or bring to front.

When file saved and reopened, the tool works again for a while, then stops working.

Just lost a detailed report (token?)- now a short version!

Nesting fails when parts fit plus minus null on sheets. My parts should fit regarding to the measurements on a sheet multiple times. The nesting tool can’t find a solution.

Options are:
Quantity multiplier: 0
Rotation: 4
Sheet margin: 0
Margin: 0
Tolerance: 0

If I modify the parts and make them slightly smaller then a nesting is done as expected. Did I miss something?

Clicking cancel button only hides dialog but does not stop nesting. Escape key works as expected.

I have got a dwg file from architect, which I can open, but I get “Invalid symbol table name” when I try to save it. I do not know which software was used to create it.
I have tried to change all spaces and national characteds in block and layers names as advised elswhere, but that didn’t help.

When dimensioning this particular line in this position I get an Aligned Dimension of 868.6059. Offsetting this line from its original position I get the correct dimension of 19.0320, as shown in my GIF file. All other dimension in the drawing are correct. So what have I not set up or realised. I have moved the drawing to another area of the drawing and still get the same result.

1. Create polyline with one single arc segment
2. Project (Modify > Projection > Isometric Projection, dwgmapconvert, etc.)

NumBlock Enter key is not accepted by “Coordinate” tool to confirm the settings in the option bar (green Arrow icon). Enter key on main keyboard works.

Very confusing when you are used to type in all numbers with the NumBlock (what is very fast) but to confirm you have to use the “far away” Enter on the Main keyboard ...

I just updated my QCAD to 3.26.2.0 (3.26.2) version and lost the hability to edit block attributes of my sheet or in any other block.

I tried to save as the drawing and the problem persists.

When I open the block, the attribute is there and is all set in the Specific Properties, but when I exit to the Model Space to edit the Attribute text, the created attributes don’t appear on Specific Properties tab.

The use of block attributes in sheets, balloon or any block that contains text is very necessary.

Line patterns on splines are rendered segment by segment instead of per whole spline.

Text that has been applied to a drawing with the ‘bold’ attribute sometimes appears as regular, un-bolded, text. When increasing the viewing magnification one will see the text adopt the bold attribute, but at smaller sizes the text appears without the bold. This can be confusing causing the draftsman to double-check whether the text had the bold attribute.

Current version: 3.26.2

Previous version: 3.22.1 (note: in this version, bolded text appeared bold at all viewing magnifications.)

Edit > Undo text is not updated correctly under Windows due to special role of tab character in Windows menus.

This file is produces by .js script which some QCad user wrote for me. The script produce many dxf files which are ok, but this one can not be loaded to 3.26.4. (3.22.0.5 is fine)

Lead out type and size are not respected (signals blocked and not unblocked).

The attached file contains a spline that is exhibiting this behavior. To reproduce:

1. Select the spline
2. Click Modify > Explode
3. The spline loses its curve and becomes a straight line

In Print Preview the movable display of the printing area (white) is displayed to small which makes a multi page arrangement very difficult. You want not notice the wrong size when you print only one page but 10 pages vertical in a row will show the effect clearly. I checked a metric (mm) and an imperial (inch) unit. The deviation in Imperial is clearer than in Metric.

If boundary lines do not start at the same height, the continuing dimensioning (DC) does not work reliably. This results in incorrect dimensions that often cannot be recognized.

With an RPolyline shape.
That is trimmed by RPolyline.trimEndPoint(cutPoint1, RVector.invalid, false);
And what is turned into a null-shape having only one single vertex.
Getting the end orientation of such a shape lead to an Application Crach.

RPolyline.getDirection1(); Doesn’t fail and returns 0.0rad.
RPolyline.getDirection2(); Fails critical.

I would have expected 0.0rad or ‘undefined’ for both.

One can circumvent that with simply testing the nature of the RPolyline before getting the end direction, and this each time required.

Image file paths coming from Windows might contain mixed slash and backslash notations which is not correctly parsed under Linux / macOS.

Seen in al previous versions that I know of.
To recreate and merely as an example:
With:
- A polyline entity on a layer ‘polyline’ (notLocked - notFrozen - Visible)
- A hidden layer ‘exploded’ (notLocked - notFrozen - notVisible)

- Select the polyline .. DP .. XP » duplicated polyline explosion in selection.
- Set the selection its layer to ‘exploded’ by a double click in the Layer List or by Property Editor.
- Hide layer ‘polyline’ by toggling its visibility.
- Unhide layer ‘exploded’ by toggling its visibility.

The explosion is still in a dark red color.

Inserting certain DXF files with attribute definition entities crashes QCAD.

This happens only when using “save and update” and then “close”. “save and close” works ok. See in video
Buttons for adding and removing from working set seams buggy for me when I played with them for a while (some block references completely disappear form drawing). But I am not able to describe this behavior.

The parsing for the -min-lineweight option of dwg2svg is broken, only -w or the undocumented -minlineweight options work.

This is due to a typo in the Dwg2Svg.js script around line 225:

      properties["minLineweight"] = getArgument(args, "-w", "-min-lineweight");
      if (isNull(properties["minlineweight"])) {
          properties["minLineweight"] = getArgument(args, "-w", "-minlineweight");
      }

This should be:

      properties["minLineweight"] = getArgument(args, "-w", "-min-lineweight");
      if (isNull(properties["minLineweight"])) {
          properties["minLineweight"] = getArgument(args, "-w", "-minlineweight");
      }

Note the case minlineweight vs minLineweight.

This has the consequence that the value parsed form -min-lineweight is always replaced with the value from -minlineweight, which is usually undefined.

Since the short option -w is parsed in both cases, it is not affected from the bug.

QCAD/CAM 3.26.4 crashes at startup (just disappears) if setting “EnableHierarchicalLayers” to “false” in QCAD3.ini (Section: [LayerListPro]) on Windows.
Tested fresh installs on several computers, including Windows 10, 7, XP. 32 Bit and 64 Bit OS and QCAD/CAM.
After removing “EnableHierarchicalLayers” or setting “true” QCAD/CAM starts up normally.

So user without knowledge of finding/editing .ini-file will lock himself out by disabling “Application Preferences > Widgets > Layer List > Enable Hierarchical Layers”

I noticed a bug while editing blocks in place. When I opt to edit in place, most of the surrounding blocks fade out properly, but some don’t. Although I can’t edit them, as they are not faded, It can be tricky to identify what is in the current block or not while editing a bigger assembly.

Another suggestion is to add a keyboard shortcut command to the “save and close”.

Otherwise, this is a fantastic feature that really enabled me to buy the QCAD and start using it professionally. In place editings are a key feature for my projects and drawings.

IMG 1 shows my drawing

IMG 2 shows a block being edited “not in place”

IMG 3 shows a surrouding block being edited “not it place”

IMG 4 and 5 shows the in place edit of the block shown in IMG 2 and the surrouding blocks not being properly faded.

Autocad requires that all overrides are written to DXF/DWG, not only those that are actually different from the dimension style.

Open attached file, edit “outer” block in-place, click Save and close. The attribute of “inner” block disappears.

Caused by missing linear scale property of ordinate dimensions.

I have selected version 32 as the default file save format but new files default to version 27 when saved

Existing drawing:

1. e.g. flange.dxf loads with no fills (solid hatch) for arrows,
2. New dimension are also without arrow fills.
3. This existing drawing has Text above line! Setting Drawing Preferences / Dim to “Horizontal text labels” will alter Text to be Horizontal BUT also open a gap for the text which is a separate setting (Text above dimension Line). Undo doesn’t works on this properly - used multiple times will even change the dim color which wasn’t changed in this operation.

New drawing:

1. Same test scenario - same issue.
2. Dim settings = Horizontal text Labels ticked, Text above dimension Line ticked produces a dim horizontal orientated with a gap instead to put the text above the line

Hello, I am not sure if this is a bug or if I use it wrong way. But when I create block with two identical block attributes everything look ok. I Can insert it to drawing, set the value (both will change). But when I use “Synchronize attribute (UY)”, only one will stay. It would be fine if both would stay. But I understand that you probably use tag as identification.

To reproduce the problem just open the attached file and press UY

With an CW ellipse Arc > 180° the GUI method info Arc/Circle/Ellipse (IC) in segment mode throws an exception:
Uncaught exception at :scripts/Information/InfoArcCircleArea/InfoArcCircleArea.js:210: ReferenceError: Can’t find variable: remainSectorArea

Rather a complex way to get the area of an ellipse arc segment.

There: area = majorR * minorR / 2 * (sweep - Math.sin(sweep)).
- where majorR, minorR & sweep can simply be sourced from the ellipse arc shape/entity.
- where the area is signed ... +CCW, -CW

About identical as for an arc segment.

For an (ellipse) arc sector one would only need to add/subtract
the area of triangle |StartP-CenterP-EndP|

To reproduce:

1. File – New
2. Create a new layer (layer 1)
3. Draw an horizontal infinity line
4. Duplicate “layer 1” (layer 1 Copy)
5. Hide “layer 1 Copy” 6. Try to select the line in “layer 1”

What happens: It’s not possible to select the line in the visible layer (layer 1) if the line is present in the duplicated layer (layer 1 Copy) and that layer is either hidden or locked.

Expected: It should be possible to select the line, as the overlapping line in the other layer is hidden/locked .

Points in hatch patterns are exported as empty path elements in the exported SVG.
Therefore, the hatch patterns “DOTS” and “AR-SAND” are not visible in the exported SVG.

When try partly print multipage , all pages will be printed.
in my this project i reserved 5*10 =50 pages, but so far have made less than 10 ready, which I wanted print out, it always start print all 50 pages, no matter How i try choose.
