562 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | Layer "Black/White" color from Qcad2 not kept in v3 | Closed
|
Task Description
I made several drawings for my building renovation project, using Qcad Pro v2.2.2.
I’m used to have a white background and selected adequate colors for my layers : quotations in black or blue, legends in black too etc. When I started QCAD 3rc5, I choose white background in the 1st application launch startup screen.
OK, the background is white. But now I see that ALL “black” items are de facto in white, making them hard to read as you can believe.
Why are the colors I choose for my layers not kept in this QCAD 3 ? I remember that in v2, one of the standard color choices was “Black/white” ; I assumed the actual choice of black or white was somehow related to the then selected background.
Is there a kind of a setting or a miracle procedure to allocate all previous “Black/White” color to pure black ? Or to add a provision in the startup screen to select which Black or White color to assign to the previous “Black/White” color.
I’m facing a hard choice : - use a non-white background ? Pale-blue could be nice ... but I would still be forced to change my ex-black-now-white layers color. Black or dark background is not recommended in view of eye strain : should I be back to old monochrome VDU ? Printed paper are easier to read with black text on white paper, aren’t they ? - modify manually all layers which were changed “à l’insu de mon plein gré” from black to white, and in all my drawings ? Not enough time, sure !

1518 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Very Low | Landscape/Portrait gets confused for custom page size | Closed
|
Task Description
Hello
In the Print Preview or Drawing Preferences / Page Settings if I select a Custom size, then landscape/portrait does not really make sense.
For instance, at work we have a laser cutter which uses a printer driver. The bed of the laser is 600 wide by 300 high. When I wanted to cut something, I created a custom page size of 600×300 and selected Landscape (because it is wider than high)
Strangely, back in the Print Preview, the page is now sized opposite with regards to Portrait / Landscape mode, which was confusing somewhat.
(see pictures attached)
I think that for ‘Custom’ page size in Drawing Preferences, the option of Portrait or Landscape should probably be ghosted
Then, I think that for Portrait / Landscape mode in the Print Preview, it should display the shape most appropriate, rather than just assuming that the document fits the norm:
Taller than Wide for Portrait mode
Wider than Tall for Landscape mode

|
1193 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | Landscape print lacks rotation | Closed
|
Task Description
I have spent a couple of days banging my head against this.
If I print the attached drawing in landscape mode to my printer, the drawing is not rotated, and the paper only contains ~2/3rds, oriented the wrong way.
If I print to PDF-File, open in gv(1), and change the size field from “Automatic” to the chosen papersize, same thing happens.
If I print to Postscript-File, open in gv(1), change the size field to the chosen papersize, the rotation is correct.
Many PDF viewers will autodetect missing rotations and other such stuff, and you will never notice a mistake like this, but gv(1) does it the “old-school” way and shows the mistake.
The crucial bit of the Postscript output is:
/pageinit {
% 210 *297 mm (landscape)
90 rotate 0.060000000 -0.060000000 scale } def
Something similar is missing in the PDF and the output to the printer.
PS: This is also on FreeBSD, but I doubt that matters at all for the “print to file” operations.

Task Description
Starting with 3.7.7 I noticed, that some parts in drawings are missing: affected are some circles and (some) closed splines. These were created with earlier releases of qcad3.
Attached a file that has two circles, only one of them showing at first (drawn in 3.8.0); set line-display “screen” (NL command) to see the other (drawn earlier). From the dxf serialization (dxflib or teigha does not matter) I do not see where that should stem from or how to fix this.
At zero degrees there is a little dot though, and also, only certain dashed line-types “hide” the (outer only) circle.
Filed under Ubuntu, not tested on windows etc.

And what about installing the program as root, so all users of a computer could use it without personal installs, and only personal setting files created by users would be kept in ~user/.opt/qcam.
