Task Description
In QCAD Pro, I found that setting the application preference to disable “Text above dimension line” does not transfer to new drawings.
My setup: QCAD Professional version: 3.28.1.0 Date: Mar 30 2023 Qt version: 5.8.0 Compiler version: gcc 4.8.1 Build date: Mar 30 2023 Revision: ca7ec144abd203d2a68ca91c0ff0684868ba08a5
OS: Xubuntu 23.04 Kernel: 6.2.0-25-generic Resolution: 1920×1200 DE: Xfce 4.18 WM: Xfwm4
Demonstration procedure follows:
Fresh install QCAD Pro (no previous config file);
Edit –> Application Preferences
Under “Defaults for New Drawings”, select “Dimension Settings”
Under “Dimension Style”, “Text above dimension line” is enabled by default. Uncheck it, then press Apply button.
Change one or more other settings; for instance “Linear Dimensions” to Decimal, or the Precision. Press Apply button accordingly.
Press OK button to dismiss Application Preferences.
Quit out of QCAD Pro.
Reopen QCAD Pro. Create something that can be dimensioned, and dimension it. Label will appear above the dimension line.
Edit –> Drawing Preferences
Under “Dimension Style”, “Text above dimension line” is checked, contrary to the Application Preference setting. The other preference settings are in effect.

Task Description
RC1 is lazy in saving appearance to config. I noticed, because it always started with default window size. Maximizing was not carried over, also the panels were consistently reset.
Only when eg. dragging the handle to change cad-toolbar width not from preferences it would write an “appearance” section to the config file.
The appearance section should be written rather sooner than later.

Task Description
Andrew,
Trace Bitmap requires a selection. QCAD stalls when the first entity id is not an RImageEntity .
The prevImageEntity.getFileName() in the beginEvent will throw an exception for all but an RImageEntity.
The odds are against us that in a multiple selection an image is the first id.
I think you need to filter on image entities like later in the applyOperation function.

When defining block attributes, the default text alignment is center.
I changed this to align left and copied an attribute (ctrl + C) and then pasted (ctrl + V) fourteen times.
As I opened each one up with the editor to change the tag information, I noticed that every copied/pasted attribute definition had changed to align right.
I purposely set the first one back to align left and copy/pasted it a few times. Each paste had the attribute text set to align right again.

2346 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | Access to Command: Line by pressing space bar | Closed
|
Task Description
On the current version of QCAD (used on a M1 MacBook Pro) you can set a keyboard shortcut timeout which I have set to 5000, 5seconds is ok to press two keys and press return. However I find this this method of selecting the command line is not consistent, its selection time varies from approx 0.5sec up to 5sec which leads to incorrect command selection.
To get around this at preset I use a mouse click to select the command line which works every time.
An option not to use the keyboard time would be better so the space bar selects command line, return key executes and closes or Esc cancels and closes selection
Hope you can look into this Regards Paul

2220 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | (CU) Convert Drawing Unit (inch, mm etc) to None fails | Closed
|
Task Description
(CU) Convert Drawing Unit (inch, mm etc) to none fails with the message “Warning, Unit “None” selected. Nothing to be done”. In the same drawing I can change the Drawing Unit below “Drawing preferences/ Drawing Unit” to None without any problems.

672 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | "Snap to intersection" followed by "Dimension" does not ... | Closed
|
Task Description
Version 2.1:
Managed to use “Snap to grid” as the item was precisely 100mm or 120mm, but had it not been a precise multiple of 10mm there would have been a problem.
Thanks.

1274 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | "Select Contour" selects every connected object | Closed
|
Task Description
Right now the “Select Contour” feature behaves like a “Select each and every connected line”. I think that was not the intended purpose, so I report this as a bug.
I tested it on a honeycomb structure and instead of selecting just the outer contour it selected also every line inside the structure, which were connected to the contour.

540 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Very Low | "pa" ("parallel") keycode triggers wrong action | Closed
|
Task Description
In the latest QCAD Community Edition source code (2.0.5.0-1-community), the wrong action is triggered for the “pa” keycode. Specifically, it triggers the basic draw line command. Here is the relevant code from qcadcmd/src/rs_commands.cpp, in RS_Commands::keycodeToAction:
} else if (c==tr("li", "line")) {
ret = RS2::ActionDrawLine;
} else if (c==tr("pa", "parallel")) {
ret = RS2::ActionDrawLine;
I believe this should instead be:
} else if (c==tr("li", "line")) {
ret = RS2::ActionDrawLine;
} else if (c==tr("pa", "parallel")) {
ret = RS2::ActionDrawLineParallel;

1522 | QCAD (main) | Bug Report | Low | "Hatch from Segments" problem with polylines ... | Closed
|
Task Description
I tried to hatch an area and the Reference Manual said all entities can be used but it doesn’t works at my example. Did I missed something?
The test drawing shows at the top the goal with exploded polylines. At the bottom I have rectangles (Polylines, drawn with the Rectangle tool) what is unfortunately not working.
