Re: drawing preferences issue
Having completed my video lesson on scaled printing, I can now provide more insight to this problem. Although my v2.2.2 tabloid drawing was in inches, it was loaded by v3.4.6 with drawing units as inches but with paper units as mm. When I then changed the paper dimension units to inches, v3.4.6 then...

drawing preferences issue
Win7, v3.4.6 1. I just noticed that if I load a drawing created by v2.2.2 using v3.4.6 the drawing preferences units of measure for that page falsely report mm ( as used by v2.2.2 even though inches are the units). 2. If I cut and paste the same drawing to a new file in v3.4.6 the drawing preference...

Re: Paste overwrite block and overwrite layer options
Thanks Andrew for two reasons. Your example cleared the air for me and I wasn't aware of the on-line reference manual.

Paste overwrite block and overwrite layer options
Win7, Qcad Pro 3.4.6 I have been unable to find in the Qcad book nor the help file, explanation of these paste options "overwrite block" and "overwrite layer". Would someone provide a brief explanation of when these two options would be used. Thanks

Change y-scale to 1/2 4. Click chain again to relink x & y scales and y-scale box grays out but 1/2 rema...

Re: Layers, Blocks and Colors
Andrew, while creating a training video on "Blocks and Layers" I found my way to this very informative post and the other post about block colors. I have two questions for additional clarification, using Pro v3.4.6. 1. When an entity of a block (viewed with the property editor while in block edit mo...

Qcad Training Video $15
Just a notice that the 6-hour training videos at www.learnqcad.com provide a good compliment to the Qcad Printed Book and have been reduced in price to $15 for downloads only. The CD is also available at the normal price. These video courses were created using Qcad version 2.1.3.2, which is very sim...

Printing on paper larger than A4
After much experimenting, I have developed printing methods that work quite well when larger size paper is required for house plan drawings using QCad. One method consists of what I call "poor man's tiling". The following link explains in detail the problems and work-arounds for large paper printout...

LuisC-SM Sorry about that link. The period at the end is what broke the link. It should be: http://www.thecadtrain.com/newbiesetup.htm I edited my previous message so as not to down-play your print issues. I didn't mean to infer that you have no problem. I just meant that after many years of repairi...

Can't help with your printer issues because I use winxp. The paper size is stored in the document you save. Just make a dummy document that has all the drawing preferences defined as you like, then open that document each time and save as your new document name to start a new drawing. The dimensions...

Hi makeit simple, Thanks for your feed-back, but we miscommunicated. My method is to draw the wall layout on a floor plan. This grid snap allows door openings and window openings in the wall floor plan, such that no blocks have to be cut to fit that door or window opening. In other words, if I want ...

For the benefit of others, here is the answer to my previous post. Properties of an entity have to do with the layer location, positioning and shape of the selected entity, while the attributes have to do with the layer location and pen qualities for that entity. So you use the one that contains wha...

moving a filled entity
v2.1.3.2, winXP SP2, my experience has been that when I select a filled entity and move that entity, the fill pattern remains at the old location. Once the fill and the entity outline are seperated by a move, then you can select both the fill and the object and move them together, but they remain ou...
