As andrew says, it was a bit horrid! Th idea was to produce special layers, which held only "cutting" lines. A "cutting" line was drawn across the object (e.g. the stem of a bolt) on this layer and the stretch took place at this point. The layer name had to follow a fixed format e.g. "_stretch_lr_5"...

Match Properties

Just an idea:

To match all properties of a selected object.
Select "donor" object then select "recipient" object.
All properties are copied over.
(could this be done in a script?)

All I can suggest is to draw the line too long, position it, then trim it. Very long-winded and prone to errors. I don't think Autocad can do this either, so QCad isn't alone!

What a pity. This is just the sort of application that could have used it! Mind you, it took Autodesk quite a long time to include parametric & dynamic blocks. They are still weird to set up too. :-)

Isn't the "_stretch_" system supported any more, Andrew? I must admit, I haven't tried it.

However, exploding a block doesn't dump the bits of block onto layer 0. I find that preferable to Autocad's way.
Drat! That's been changed to the Autocad system now. :(

Command line history

Is there a way of reducing the number of lines in the command line history window, or just keep a basic command line without it? It seems to use a lot of valuable screen estate. Also, can it be shorter, to allow the blocks menu to be longer?

Ah-ha! Thanks. I've just discovered that. I was looking for a way of getting some blocks off an existing drawing & adding them to the library. I've now managed a couple. in dxf format. I've not managed to do it by using export to create png files though. Pictures are created, but aren't viable in th...

Is there any way of exporting a block to a dxf file?

As subject... :?

This appears to be something severely missing from qcad - unless I've missed something.

I just tried a test drawing to simulate this. 4 layers: 0, chassis, drilling pattern & objects. An object block was created, putting the outline on the "objects" layer and the drilling pattern on the "drilling pattern" layer. Everything was set to "bylayer". A simple chassis outline was drawn on the...
