I downloaded EveryDWG as suggested in the FAQ in order to convert my files.
However, when I try to do so I get a message saying that no DWG files were found!
I want to convert the other way.
What am I doing wrong?

Switching back and forth between draft mode made no difference and my settings are as shown (though mine are cm based). I am probably just using the wrong command. I am using the "dimaligned" command. What I get is a line parallel to the original line with connection to the corners. Looks like this ...

Dimension lines not showing numbers
I am probably doing something seriously wrong but I can't get the dimension lines to show numbers.
Maybe I simply am using the wrong command.
