I'm posting this on behalf of a friend of mine. For years, he has been using AutoCad 2000. Recently, though, he purchased a new PC (up from an ancient HP from 1998), and due to losing the CD key (and because it's a Linux PC), he has decided to try QCad. He's having some trouble, and asked me to post the following message.

Can anyone help me? My name is Buckey and I have QCAD installed on my computer in Linux. I followed the instruction manual QCAD An introduction to CAD for the first 43 pages up to the “Printing a Drawing”. I did exactly what it said to do: File – Print Preview. Instead of showing a picture of the rectangle with a line in the middle, there was a complete blank with a black line vertical but no picture. Printing results in the same. Am I missing something?

It could be that he chose a different default unit than "Millimeters" as the book assumes. He could scale the drawing down using the scale drop down at the top or auto fit it to the paper size.

In any case, chapter 19 later in the book explains printing and the print preview in much more detail.

Note that the book applies to QCAD Professional, not the QCAD Community Edition, so he might find things in the book that will simply not work with the QCAD Community Edition.
