Converting DXF problems

Hi,

I've got qcad community edition on Ubuntu 7.10 x86_64 installed. I originally got my house plan drawings converted using Caddy (to DXF). I then modified my drawings significantly using QCad. A great little tool - thanks.

I used to be able to give the DXF files to the engineer who uses autocad to open to files. From a certain point, AutoCAD does not want to open the file and I cannot figure out what caused the problem.

Now I've been trying to convert the drawings into a printable format (preferably PDF) so that the print shop & the engineer can print on A0 / A1.

When I print to a PostScript file, the file is about 92MB (takes a few minutes to print!). When I use ps2pdf to convert to PDF, the pdf file is 2K and contains nothing that I can see. When I try to view the PS file (using Envince), I see "loading..." and nothing more.

Any directions here will help.

Thanks
Otto

I didn't have big problems to open qcad files with AutoCAD (I use the latest stable qcad in debian)... You can try to simplify your drawing because 92MB of PS output is a lot!

I think import-export dxf files is very important for a CAD software and I hope this feature will be improved.
