Show mesurement results in bottom info pane

I have many times had problems with the mesure-tools since they show the result directly in the drawing area where it can get covered by other objects making it sometimes impossible to see what it says. It would also be many times nice if the result of a mesurement could be copied to the clipboard instead of having to write it down on a piece of paper so you can then input the correct number when doing a rotation operation or what not.

Maybe you could use the info-area at the bottom to show the mesurement so you could always see the result clearly and then you can copy it to the clipboard should you so wish? And when you select an object, its properties could be shown in the info area (for example the length of a chosen line, its angle compared to the horizontal, ...).

That's exactly what all measuring tools do (unless I misunderstood what you meant).

1. Use measuring tool to measure distance, area, ...
2. Look in the command line widget for result (you can also select and copy the result from there)

As usual: I assume you are using QCAD 2.2.2.0 since no version is indicated in post.

Ok Andrew. You are of course right. I had disabled the command line widget since it takes up valuable vertical space.

Since virtually all text in the info area at the bottom and in the command line widget occupy less than half the screen width, couldn't they be layedout side by side instead of on top of each other?
