Could it be that the bottleneck is the 64 vs 32 bit OS?

When the zoom level changes to 10<100 and beyond less texts are in the viewwindow and more screen updates are made.
The texts in the example become readable in the 5th level passing from 100<1000 to 10<100.
It's not the zoom level but how many texts items that are in the picture that slows the system.
If they are all +2400 on the screen the only thing we see are 2 or 3 pixels per item.
Slowing the system to render them all makes no sence.
