Scale tool. How is the best way to use it?

Post by Tom Fenn » Tue Apr 24, 2012 12:21 pm

The Scale tool in QCad confuses the screaming bejesus out of me. Does anyone have any tips how to use it properly?

For example if I have a line set to 5cm and I want to scale up (or down) a selection of entities at an arbitrary width so the width equals the 5cm line, how does one do it?

Many thanks.

Tom welcome

reference line = 50mm (5cm)
First determine the width of the entity you wish to modify by selecting it and then by using the 'info' tools (measure point to point) or from the geometry info in the property editor.

To scale down

1. I have a line or entity of width 145.8mm long:
In the Scale options dialog box - enter in the factor X field - 50/145.8/1
Press OK - job done.

To scale up

2.I have a line or entity of width say 34.5667mm long, and I want to scale up to 87.432mm width:
In the scale options dialog box - enter in the factor X field - 87.432/34.5667
Press OK - job done.

Hope this helps you out
