External Block

Post by ov10fac » Fri Feb 13, 2015 4:49 pm

I need to create a block that can be inserted into any drawing. I read one article that said to create an external block, but can't seem to find any other reference to that type of a block. What I want to do is simply create a title block that can be reused on all drawings. I know this has probably been done and discussed over and over, just cant seem to find it.

Many thanks.

Couldn't you just draw your title block one time and save it to the library? I'm having trouble saving anything in the library right now, but I hope to solve that problem with help from this forum.

Yes, the recommended way is to save your drawing border as a regular drawing into QCAD Installation Path/libraries/templates/metric (or imperial).

You can then insert the border as block anytime using the part library browser (View > Library Browser).
If you start a new drawing, you can use the border as drawing template (File > New from Template...)
