detailing

Post by Mr Confused » Sat Mar 19, 2016 10:33 am

How do i create detail drawings? that is i have a master drawing of an item then i want to present all the individual parts on a separate pages one piece per page with boarders and title block etc. my geriatric brain cannot see the simple way to do this, it seems all the blocks etc are all locked into a one page world.

Hi Mr Confused,

do you have already templates with border and title block? If so then ...

open a template drawing,
open the master drawing,
select the desired part in the master drawing, copy it into your clipboard,
make the template drawing active and paste your part / detail into this template drawing,
prepare / clean it as desired,
save the template drawing "save as" with a new name and your detail is saved,
Repeat those steps for every detail.

Clip board: any advise on how to get some life into the clip board? i have advanced as far as copy, but the clip board just lingers there at the side looking very black? i don't see a specific copy to clipboard option.

You don't need any "life" in the clipboard.
The clipboard is just a temporary storage for something what you like to use anyplace else. Please tell me exactly, step by step, what you are doing and I will look into it to figure out what went wrong.
Thanks.

It goes like this: draw a square > select > copy > select start position > go around and around and around with the prepared to paste outline and ask myself what am i missing here?
I can't locate any invitation to copy to clip board or paste to clipboard, the mouse pointer incites no action on the clip board space, right click? left click? double click? click while facing north, click while facing south...
