Lines showing up as white

Hi All,

We are having an issue where we open a drawing and the lines show up in white so basically cant see them untill you CTRL A and change to black on the property editor,

How do you automatically set this to black?

Any help is appreciated

Hi,

you can change the layer attribute white to black or vice versa for all layer below Menu/Misc/Layer
Note: There is only one Layer "0". Change that layer from white to black.

Or without changing the color set below Application Preferences / Graphics View / Apearance "Prevent black on black or white on white display" what would be the recommended setting in this case.

I would like to add the advice not to work on a white background.

There are several reasons for that:
- That may be good to read text because we are quite used to it, but it is less suitable for drawing in CAD.
It is much more tiring for the eyes to distinguish details on a white background.
Remind that a white paper reflects all kinds of light and that a screen emits white light.
The excessive brightness may reduce the visual appearance of darker line-art.
- Other system colors are chosen with care so they work well on a black background.

The default Grid for example is very hard to distinguish on a white background.
- In default it is obvious that you are working in an unlimited Model_Space or looking at it in Print Preview mode on a limited (white) page.

Drawings in White is usually something we see in ACAD files, but in fact that originates from a special color index 7.
Like Husky explained, preventing white on white / black on black is your best option.
