Add Viewport

Post by steve2 » Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:50 am

Hi,
when trying to create a new viewport in a layout block [Shortcut: V, T] there is only a horizontal line but no rectangular area shown in the model space.

System:
- QCAD Pro: qcad-3.29.6-pro-linux-qt5.14-x86_64
- OpenSuse (KDE Plasma 6.0.3; X11; Qt Version 6.6.3)

Thanks for your report.

I'm unable to reproduce the problem here.

Is this only a visual problem or does the tool not work? Is it possible to create a viewport or not?

Could you attach a screenshot of how it looks when clicking the first corner of the viewport area and another when you click the second corner?

Thanks.

It's only a visual problem (see screenshot).
But you can't choose the exact size of the viewport because the second corner can't be selected / is not visible.

Thanks. Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce this problem here. Does this also happen when you, for example, draw a rectangle?

Yes, this also happens when I try to draw a rectangle (shortcut R, E).
It seems that the horizontally restriction (shortcut E, H) is activated anywhere in the background.

Yes, that might be. It's hard to tell since I cannot spot the snap cursor in your screenshot. Can you try to back up and then reset your QCAD configuration?

steve2,

It it right that you don't uses rules and scrollbars?! :?
In the screen capture we can see that the the Grid is turned off.

Still RE should display the snap cursor & crosshairs for both of your points.
Or are crosshairs also turned off?

One can lock the Snap (SQ) ... For Restrict Horizontally (EH) for example.
Because the CAD Tools Toolbar (Widget) is turned off we can not verify that in your capture.
Try toggling the the Lock Snap and set snapping to auto ... SQ and then SA or use the snap menu.

With some more tweaking I can replicate your issue for RE for example.

Starting over with fresh default preferences by resetting your configuration might be a good option. :P

Regards,
CVH

I switched to a previous configuration and the problem disappeared.
I couldn't detect the difference that caused the issue.

@CVH
Setting the snap to auto (SA) or free (SF) didn't solve the problem.
