Hi rray,

please check the shape which is used as base for the offset - there are incorrect corner transitions which will cause a such unexpected offset shape.

For something very orthogonal, why was it drawn using the spline tool, is this a file not drawn by yourself?

The underlying problem is that the shape to start with is a spline! I would redraw it using line or Polyline tools instead, then offset to the margin you need..

The root cause of the problem seems to be that the explosion tool interpolates the spline as one whole curve which results in these beveled corners if the original spline has sharp corners like the one in this example.

I've fixed this issue for the next release by interpolating splines piecewise. This guarantees that corner points are retained. I've attached the result of the fixed explosion tool for this file.

The problem with exploding splines with corners and straight segments should be fixed in the latest release QCAD 3.9.2.
