Is it possible to create other styles of hatching or is it only possible to use the ones in the hatch dialog?

I would like to have a plain angled hatch (like the one shown in the help screen for hatching) but none of the hatch styles seems to be a plain angle hatch.

You can create custom hatch patterns by saving a pattern into the "patterns" directory of your QCad installation (load one of the pattern files in there first to get an idea).

Note that you can also scale and rotate patterns which should solve your problem (try "ansi31" with your custom angle).
