Problem with scaled drawing

Post by bleedingout » Fri Oct 12, 2007 9:09 am

Hello,

I´m new to QCad and to this forum.
I´m not very familiar with CAD but use the program only for minor changes on some drawings.

Problem:
I have one drawing which is scaled 1:2
For example there is one dimension 10mm.
If I open the DXF-file using a viewer like eDrawings the dimension is correct shown as 10mm.
If I open the file using QCad the dimension changes to 5mm and so do all other dimensions.
If I say the dimension changes I mean the "written" number on the drawing changes from 10 to 5. And so if I print the drawing the part is half the size it should be...
Is it a bug or a feature? :-)

Thanks a lot in advance for all your help

QCad itself does not scale a drawing. You can not say: I will draw within a 1:2 scaling system.

But sure you can sale a drawing like this, if needed.

1. Select all entities. "ta"
2. Use the Scale Tool "sz"
3. Enter Factor. For example 2.0. (Coming from a 1:2 drawing.)
4. Thats it.

BTW: If you are not that familiar with CAD you can do a training program vor example here: http://www.thecadtrain.com/newbiesetup.htm
(TheCadTrain is not related directly to RibbonSoft.com but a good starting place for learning CAD basics.)
