Language Selection Problem

Post by chri » Sat Jan 03, 2009 5:04 pm

Hi,

I use qcad-2.2.2.0-1-prof.linux.x86 on a Kubuntu 8.04 system. If I start qcad from a freshly extracted download archive everything works fine with the language settings. But if I copy the extracted file to another directory e.g /opt/qcad, I cannot select any languages anymore.

The permissions of /opt/qcad are set to 755 belonging to root:root. The config file is located at ~/.config/RibbonSoft/QCAD.ini. I have set the path to the translations manually using /opt/qcad/qm. Further I have set the other paths manually as well because the patterns were not present as well. I created a symlink to start the program simply with "qcad".

By changing the Language option in the config file manually, qcad starts with correct language settings. But in the Settings dialog only English or blank is selectabe. If you alter some other settings the Language option in the ini file is set to blank (because nothing is selected in the language drop down). After restarting Qcad, the dialog language is set to English.

I assume this is a qt/kde or permission specific problem. Any thoughts?

Cheers,
chri

The symlink is the problem. Starting without the symlink everything works fine. May there be some reference problem when starting with a symlink?
