Drawings created with qcad (Community Edition) can be opened with qcad. Selecting the same file in the file browser (Ubuntu 7.10) and asking to open it with qcad results in an error message from qcad that the file cannot be opened:"Please check the file permissions" This is true whatever the file permissions (read write or execute allowed for all ).
What must be done in order to open qcad AND the file in question with the file browser?
file permissions

I've seen the same problem on two of the four Ubuntu installs here. On on 6.06 and once on 7.10. I've tried everything I know to try to get qcad to play nicely on these systems but no luck.
My work around on the troubled systems is to make a launcher icon on the desktop and drag and drop files onto it rather than click on the files to start qcad.
Hope this helps.

Please check the permissions ... isn't really the error
Hi all,
I am running (trying to run?) QCad version 2.0.5.0 (Community Edition) on Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
The problem is with Nautilus 2.22.5.1.
If I click on a saved .dxf file created with QCad from a former session, QCAD launches, but I get this error message
You can see the file location error, namely,
/home/fde/file:/home/fde/myDrawings ...
To cure this for now,
Cheers

To cure this for now,
- I right mouse clicked on a .dxf file,
- left mouse clicked on 'Open with Other Application',
- chose 'Use a custom command'
- I typed in the word, qcad
- left mouse clicked on Open
Cheers
