Finding a percentage of an area within a surrounding area

Do you have a question you want to ask an existing QCAD user about QCAD and what you can do with it? Do you want to know if a particular feature exists? This is the place to ask.

Finding a percentage of an area within a surrounding area

Post by Mark Cooper » Wed Aug 26, 2009 9:56 pm

I have a simple need. I take an aerial photo of a roof, I trace a vector path around the roof edges as a closed path in Illustrator. I also have closed paths of irregular shapes within the outline of the roof. If I export a DXF file from Illustrator and open it in QCAD, is it possible to calculate the percentage of the roof that had the irregular shapes? This is the only purpose I have for making a decision to purchase QCAD. Thanks.
