QCAD crashes during pdf-export.

Post by koenreyn » Wed Aug 05, 2009 4:26 pm

Hello,

I'm using

QCAD
Versie: 2.2.2.0
[Professional]

on Windows XP

(dutch version)

When I try to export my schematics (.dxf) to pdf, QCAD crashes.
I also tried to export as bitmap, but the generated files are empty.

What's wrong?

Regards,
Koen

Please send problematic files to info [at] ribbonsoft [dot] com for investigation if possible.

Hello,

I found out that my schematics were too large in dimensions.
After rescaling I managed to fit them into the A3 template for drawings and now everything works fine.

Probably the exported pdf was too large in size to be handled by qcad.

Kind Regards,
Koen

I'm also observing the same crash. I'm overlaying a png image of size 1728x2592 with some dimension drawing, then try exporting to pdf. The png was imported with factor of 1.

I need to know whether I need to re-import with smaller factor to work around this issue. I already spent alot of time drawing the overlay and don't want to have to redo. The png and dxf files are sent to info [at] ribbonsoft [dot] com. Thanks.

QCAD might run out of memory when exporting or printing a drawing with one or more large bitmaps in it. This has to do with the way how bitmaps are displayed and exported.

A possible workaround is to reduce the image resolution but I understand that this is not always desired. We will look into the problem for a future QCAD version.

Hi,

I am using the same QCAD, just german version. Crashing happened to mee too, when I tried directly to export to pdf without prior Print preview.
When doing print preview first, it didn't crash, but produced empty files.
Are you having a format other than A4 or A3? It seems to have problems there.
