Fill colour

Is it possible to choose a fill colour other than just white? I can't see any options to choose a fill colour.

The current color (pen) is the fill color. The current color can be "By Layer". In this case the layer color is the fill color.

OK, I want to do a black fill. Can I set the pen color to black?

I don't think so. The option is black/white. Not 'black' or 'white'.
