Gentlepeople,
We are looking at a hardware upgrade. While I use many different software packages in my work, but I feel compelled to optimize for QCAD. We were wonderng if there is any benefit to getting a NVIDIA Quadro card instead of just a regular gaming card? The Quatros are supossedly optimized for Real Life but can be quite pricey. Also, would there be any advantage of say and 8 core CPU vs a 4 core. This would be for QCAD Version 3.1.6.0 running on Linux Mint 15 “Olivia” using a AMD 64 bit platform. Your thoughts would be appreiated.
Thanks and Enjoy,
PAM

Re: Hardware
I would not expect any significant gain in performance from that if any at all.PAM wrote:We were wonderng if there is any benefit to getting a NVIDIA Quadro card instead of just a regular gaming card?
No, not for QCAD and not for most other software. More cores gives you an advantage if you are running many different processes (i.e. many applications in parallel), if you use virtualization (running multiple operating systems in parallel) or if you are frequently running CPU intensive background tasks.PAM wrote:Also, would there be any advantage of say and 8 core CPU vs a 4 core.
