FS#1820 - CAM Export: exporting text entities broken
Hi Andrew,
Kubuntu, QCAD/CAM 3.21.3
Font Standard. Selected as ‘single line’ font for engraving with mill or laser.
While CAM Exporting as G-code Laser (Offset) MM, or as Linux CNC, Exporting gets trapped in a loop.
In Font Standard the glyph’s ? & $ @ s S Q and 2 contains unwanted Z-movements. It seems these glyphs entities are not alligned properly; endpoint last line does not meet startpoint next line; why else the Z-movements?
Could this misallignment also traps Exporting?

Fixed for next release / fixed in
snapshot release (3.21.3.2)
The problem with exporting texts is a known problem that has been fixed for the next release.
A snapshot release (3.21.3.2) with the fix is available on the download page (under Snapshots).
A known workaround for the release version is to select all texts (e.g. using View > Selection filter) and explode them (Modify > Explode) into lines and arcs prior to creating the toolpath. Exploding might be required twice if texts are formatted.
Please post one issue per task for easier handling, thanks.
These are tolerance issues. These fonts were made and are optimized for screen use where precision of a few hundreds drawing units is more than enough. For engraving this is an annoyance but doesn't affect the result. LASER engraving might be more sensitive to these kinds of interruptions.
