FS#645 - Inch - Layerdata / Linewight still in mm ...

Drawing Unit is in “Inch” but the Layer Data (Line wight) is in “mm” ....

I like it ;-) ... but maybe I’m the only one :-(

22.10.2022 : A task closure has been requested. Reason for request: All line weights are in mm. There only exist imperial line patterns.

I played around and now .... I don't like it anymore. ;-) The conversion of the Line weight is for me not understandable ...

Line weights are simply fixed and not converted or scaled at all.

In model space, a 1mm wide line is displayed as 1mm wide.

On paper, a 1mm line is always printed as 1mm wide, regardless of the scale that is applied for printing. I.e. line weights are NOT scaled with the drawing scale.

This makes sense because the line weight usually has a meaning (e.g. visible edge: 0.5mm, continuous; invisible edge: 0.13mm, dashed.
Scaling or converting the line weight would change the meaning or function of the line in the drawing.

Yep ... absolutely plausible. Thanks for the explanation.

But the Line weights are still all metric. Is that on purpose?

I think to add an 'Edit line weight' - between metric and imperial feature would be useful and seems logical. Maybe this could be added in the 'layer Data' dialog window!
