Add handle attribute to exported SVG tags to identify exported DXF entities.

Hi,

Even with the Application Preference, Library Browser, NO Update on Start up,
the Libray Browser scans the directory, a proces that can’t be stopped or closed.

New Tool Request:

To have a tool to make any given line which is ‘not’ orthogonal already into an orthogonal line.

For example if I had a line at 30 degrees by using the tool I could change the line to be either horizontal or vertical.

Matrix - Modify, add Flip Horizonatal and Vertical tools

Would it be possible to arrange the Menu, CAD-Toolbar, Toolbar, Menu, Tool Matrix with customized keywords, like “simple”, advanced” and “expert” to show only a minimum for user there are begin with CAD, advanced for CAD-User, and expert for construction.

Attached DWG/DXF files are incorrectly read by QCAD.
They contain splines drawn using ZWCAD and saved as DWG/DXF version 2000.
Above splines are polylines created with autolisp routine which converts spline to polyline, so you can see how splines should actually be drawn.

First spline is created with fit points: 2,2 4,4 6,2
Then copied and applied weight of 2 on central control point.
Then copied again and applied weight of 0.5 on central control point.

Second spline is created with fit points: 6,2 8,4 10,2 with vertical start and end tangent.
Then copied and applied fit tolerance of 1 for fit points.

Third spline is created with fit points: 10,2 12,4 14,2 with horizontal start and end tangent.

Fourth and fifth spline are correctly drawn by QCAD.

Automatically set the draw order one lower than the lowest draw order of a border entity when creating a hatch. This should be a user preference, since not everyone might want that behavior.

Could it be possible to add a simple function to add a new empty drawing (like File > New) to Simple.js ? Thank you. (PS, this simple.js API is awesome, btw :D)

Hi,

I use eagle cad for pcb designs and I like its ability to snap to finer snap to grid when pressing option button (ALT in windows).
I am fine with auto grid setting, however, it would be good to also have a way to access finer grid when pressing down option button.

For example, when zoomed out, grid is 100mm apart.
When pressing down on the option button (ALT in windows), grid switches to finer 10mm.
This will save me time, zooming in to access finer grid to snap to.

Large files/large entities perform bad in QCad. There are many dxf files that are created with thousand of lines that perform reasonable in other cad’s/cam’s that qcad cannot match.

One very useful tool, that could be added would help to improve qcad performance and at the same time enlarge the dxf quality (by replacing thousand of files by arcs), would be a tool called “arc fit” where, when possible and under a determined possible error margin (user selectable) creates arcs replacing the existing lines.
This would improve the file work in QCad also improves CAM software that would work after QCad, that I think is important for many users.

For example, if it is needed to use qcad to generate toolpaths for letters, after exploding letters, the output is almost impossible to work due to the number of lines that are created. Having arcs instead of lines would greatly improve qcad use.

This is kind of related to FS#952, or rather a superset of it.

Consider the situation in the attached image. There is a perfectly good, albeit really shallow arc, making the radius somewhere in the vicinity of 600 millimeters, and the radial dimension being drawn accordingly.

Considering the other dimensions of the part, this is completely unusable, even to work with, really, but definitely so when it needs to be put on paper.

It would be nice to have some sort of “partial” (for my lack of a better word) radial/diametric dimensions where the dimension length can be adjusted.

Considering that this can be done with Leader, maybe a better (more generic) solution would be for Leader type dimensions to have options so they could automatically generate labels for various dimensions of a selected entity – sort of like having the Prefix/Tolerance/Scale options the other dimensions have, and have some additional fields there for selected entity and maybe dimension type (for example, radial or diametric for an arc-type entity).

It would be so useful to have an option to be able to detect duplicates within a given selection.

When using the info tools, like the point to point measure it would be useful to be able to select a scale as well.

For example, when I scale a drawing say to 1:20, when working on the scaled drawing I can measure accurately with the measure tool in 1:20 also, without having to keep refering to the 1:1 drawing.

Add parameters to the function DL_Dxf::writeVPort.
This way users will be able to specify the desired viewport.

According to the changelog for version 3.9.3 the info tools and coordinate display are tied to the current drawing dimensions. For much of my use I prefer to have the dimensions format different. The main reason is that my customers want to see the format in fractions, but when I am drawing I’d rather see the decimal format to make sure what I am drawing is accurate. So I’d really be interested in seeing a separate full configuration of the display and info coordinates.

Add preference to use a single, configurable color for all locked layers.

1. I cannot find a way of selecting individual dimensions and changing the precision lets say from 0.00 to 0.000 for these particular dimensions only without affecting all the rest of the dimensions in the drawing - could an option be added for doing this in the property editor or not?

2. Would it be possible to add an option in the drawing preferences so that automatically a symbol is added at the correct placement fo all dimensions, in this case a tolerance plus/minus symbol?

Hi.

I’m working currently a lot with files coming from rhino. Qcad can open them properly any also most operations on them work as usual - except the selection methods.

box select from upper left to lower right works as usual.
double click to select all connected entities is broken. (only one entity is selected).
box select from lower right to upper left does not select entities touching the selection box. (nothing is selected)

on mac os nothing is selectable with single click.
on linux single click sometimes fails (nothing is selected after clicking on a line).

Would it be possible to add in the property editor an option to change a dimension arrow to a point / filled dot and maybe also a tick?

Add configuarable format options in application preferences for saving blocks to library to either dxf or dwg.

An option in the drawing preferences to change the line thicknesses for arch ticks would be a huge plus, at the moment I am having to insert ‘arch tick’ blocks for this.

Add option to define length (end point) using mouse pointer.

If reference point is “Middle”, extend line from middle in both directions to mouse cursor (?).

The line for “General properties”, “Layer” the line is too narrow,
so you do not see the layer name when the Property Editor is pinned to the side.

You can apply the command to Lines, PolyLine segments, Arcs, Circles, and Rings:

For linear entities parallel to an axis of the coordinate system, aligned Dimensions (parallel Dimensions) are created. For linear entities not parallel to an axis of the coordinate system, either aligned Dimensions (measuring the absolute distance between two points) or horizontal or vertical Dimensions (measuring the horizontal or vertical distance between two points) depending on where you move the pointer are created.

For curved entities, you can create radial, diameter, linear, angular, and arc length Dimensions.

To dimension entities:

Click Dimension > Auto (or type AutoDimension).
In the graphics area, select an entity to dimension.
Click to place the dimension line.
To use another dimension type for Circles or Arcs, specify an option:
Diameter. Creates a diameter Dimension.
Radial. Creates a radial Dimension for an Arc or Circle.
Linear. Creates a linear Dimension of the diameter of a Circle or an aligned, horizontal, or vertical Dimension between the end points of an Arc.
Angular. Dimensions the angle between the end points of an Arc.
Arc length. Dimensions an Arc length.
Note: The chosen option is the default the next time you use the AutoDimension command.

When you move the pointer during a linear dimensioning, you can:
Lock. Determines the current dimension type (aligned, horizontal, or vertical) regardless where you move the pointer.
Unlock. Unlocks the type of linear dimension used.
Press Enter.

In short, when you use this tool you click on an entity and it will know what dimension you’re looking for. For Circles, you can specify in the command window R or D for Radius or Diameter.
This would be extremely useful on large drawings where a lot of dimensioning is to be done. One tool and start clicking on entities for dimensioning.

1. Open some saved drawing with viewport entities on layout block (paper space). Print Preview mode is “On” automatically.
2. After “File-Revert” drawing is reopened on layout block (paper space), but now Print Previw mode is “Off” .

For example can try on “flange.dxf”

Dimensioning - add option for horizontal text alignment.

Basically an option in drawing preferences to align text horizontally instead of vertically.

Dimensioning - add option to split dimensions.

To have an option to split the extension lines if they run over other entities.

Dimensioning - add option to insert text in the middle of dimension.

To have an option to have text aligned in the middle of the dimension line, rather than above it.

Add support to specify multiple blocks (layouts) to output (one per page).

Add text filter for layer list, block list.

Add intersection, union, difference, XOR operations for closed polylines.

Add attribute value “By Parent” for color, line weight, line style for child layers.

Drawing converted from inch to mm - undo leads to wrong dim label position. I can fix that with “Reset Label position” but it would be nice if QCAD could to that in first place.

Make unprintable layers also hidden in print preview

When selecting multiple blocks that contain the same attribute names, attribute properties appear with the values of the last selected block instead of “various”. I do not know if this is a “bug” or developer option, but “various” would be better in my opinion.

Right-click on the tools on the left-hand side of the screen brings you back in the hierarchy.

However, that does not work if you right-click while hovering above a button that that is shaded (inactive).

... but it looks like we have the issue now back with some kind of variation.

If I use the test drawing which I posted in 2013 ( FS#843 ) it works still as expected after it was fixed.

If I create a new block it won’t work in a new drawing nor in the old test drawing - no chance to snap to the Block Reference.
