Isometric Projection used on a selection which contains blocks will mix up the layer affiliations.
No blocks - no problems

Git head as well as 3.4.5 (trial), both with dxflib 3.3.4.0.

Start up QCAD, (with existing or new configuration, doesn’t seem to matter), “Save as” the completely empty drawing, choose “R15 (dxflib)” on Pro (only this one is available on community), save drawing.

Fire up AutoCAD 2000, try to load the empty drawing just saved.

Result:

DXF read error
Error in APPID Table
DXF read error on line 941.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.

Problem not present when a completely empty drawing saved using Teigha in R15 format is opened (ie. it just results in an empty drawing in AutoCAD 2000). Problem is also not present when saving an existing drawing with Pro (trial) with Teigha and opening it in AutoCAD 2000. Problem does present when trying to open a dxflib-saved drawing in AutoCAD 2000.

Empty drawings created with both dxflib 3.3.4.0 in QCAD Pro 3.4.5 trial and Teigha whatever in QCAD Pro trial 3.4.5 are attached. (Community Git 135fd0 is identical to Pro - same dxflib version.)

Ruler ticks are not corresponding to the grid points,
Ruler will completely disappear at a certain zoom level,

Settings:
Drawing unit: inch,
Grid settings: Grid 1, Meta Grid 12,
Dim Label Format: “Engineering, 0’-0.0”

I am doing a bit of landscaping and using a (big) ortophoto as one of my layers in order to sanity-check on the ground measurements.

The layer contains a point and the image and nothing else.

The image is a 8MB file: “PNG image data, 4200 x 2980, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced” and it is scaled to 210 coordinate units (meter) horizontally in the drawing.

With approx 50% probability the image disappears during Save, as see for instance in this diff of the DXF file:

The point in the same layer does not similarly disappear, the bug only seems to affect images.

I have seen this bug from version 3.7.5.0 to git as of yesterday (63e06c778926a803bdfbffdf27b8c24d41511072).

I have not been able to correlate the bug with anything.

Looking closer at the DXF file (attached), there seems to be some residuce of attempts to insert images in protected/invisible layers, so this may be some kind of refcounting issue.

(Any chance of getting FreeBSD into the “Operating System” field ?)

Case:

Select a block array,
put it with “Copy with reference” or “Cut with reference” into the clipboard,
choose a reference point which isn’t in the center of the array,
use the paste tool / with option “flip pasted entities”

If I flip only in horizontal or vertical direction the preview box will double in size and I can’t place the entities precisely regarding to the reference point.
If I try to flip in both directions at the same time - you can’t see this effect.

I wanted to make it so, that SVG units translate 1:1 into CAD units; I use the German localized QCAD and entered 25,4 into the box with the wrong result, i.e. the same as 25; Entering 25.4 got me what I wanted: The question box needs the point and ignores the comma. Would be nice if it could use the localized separator.

Even with the Application Preference, Library Browser, NO Update on Start up,
the Libray Browser scans the directory, a proces that can’t be stopped or closed.

Print “Command Line” and as “Add measurement to drawing” works as expected.

Hi,

I am using mac version and I have annoying issue with trackpad.
I use qcad primary with my trackpad and under application preferences (Graphics View/Navigation), my setting is as follows.
Mouse wheel / two finger swipe: Scroll (Trackpad...
Enable pan gesture : unticked (found that enabling this often goes into pan mode when I am just moving my pointer around)
Limit zoom and scroll to prevent overflows : ticked (hoping that this would prevent weird zooming issue. I will describe what I am experiencing later this page)
Reverse mouse wheel direction for zoom :unticked
Mouse wheel zoom factor: 1.02

Things work as expected:

• panning with two finger swipe

• and the rest

Issue I am experiencing:

Often, when I am zooming in and out with two finger gestures, the view suddenly sets to some weird state and my drawing goes off the ruler.
The mouse point remains where it is.

Workaround:
Reset viewpoint with autozoom and navigate around.

Expected zoom behaviour:
I expect viewpoint to zoom in / out at where my mouse pointer is or at least the centre of current view point.

Still working with and on CAM HPGL for the HP7580 pen plotter.

I have added a penplotter test drawing, that might be used for testing en callibrating plotter and pens. You may add it to the Examples-directory.

QCAD has a lot of trouble creating toolpaths and exports. Much too often it shuts itself down, or gets stalled. Why? I am not sure.

testing the drill toolpath I used single point markers.

In 3D simulation the tool drills the toolpath AND uses the drill as a mill.

Cam Export and generated G-code is not effected.

Scenario: e.g. Tools Move/Copy and Rotate switched to “use without dialog.

Launch within a drawing Move/Copy, use the Keyboard keys CTRL + Space to focus on the Option Bar - the field for Numbers is Highlighted and I can change it. Further navigation with keys on the keyboard depends on remembered option (copy yes/no etc what make a navigation possible or not. It looks like the navigation with the Arrow keys is focused on the canvas and sooner or later the courser will jump to the Command Line or Property editor. Same behavior with the Rotation tool.

Offsetting 32 polys from ellipses fails.
Offsetting 16 polys can be completed with 2 selections for outer and 2 for inner.

For some reason the offset function halts premature.

In my example I can’t draw a circle with circletangent2 if the defining point is on one of the defining tangents. The tangency is lost when I try to do this.

I attached 4 screenshots: TheExample.png, TryingPoint1.png, TryingPoint2.png and The_Point_Isn’t_On_The_Tangents.png.

The application crashes when I try to change a shortcut in the preferences. And only after resizing the preferences window.
In the attachement are the cli warnings.
I also tried the 3.24.3.9 snapshot with the same result.

The square symbol offered as symbol in DIM label is the only symbol which doesn’t adopt the layer color.
If I print a drawing in full color it leads to a black symbol in an otherwise colored dimension.

It is also the only symbol which has a solid filling what is confusing when you work with it in Model_Space ...

When I zoom, the text disappears in certain zoom levels after updating to the latest version.

Blaming this on incompetence.
Insight is the best way to get better ...
... but the rest is more an odd choice of tools for this kind of task ...

Again, the MISTAKE was by accident, not intended, in a flick of the wrist ...
I didn’t change the trimming method, I simply forgot to ... only once.

The ‘undo’ of my incompetent MISTAKE didn’t returned to how the situation was before I erroneous trimmed with TM.
I was simply undoing my erroneous action.

Documented it in 4 quadrants.
For this, 4 times on purpose, and not as a consistent ‘odd choice’.

Arctic_Eddie reports failing CAM offset at exactly these points !!!
Reported is a faulty arc with radius of over 360,000mm.
- I can not reproduce this under QCAD working further on the Polys with NaNs.
- However the direct offset of such controlpoint Splines is erroneous.
(see file in post 30902)

Arctic_Eddie reports arc radii of over 10,000mm.
- These don’t seem to be faulty.
- I agree that BiArc fitting should be bound to a lower and certainly to an upper limit.
- That should be huge otherwise faint curvature is represented by many
wobbles or too quick by straight lines.
(All this, keeping in mind that QCAD doesn’t return the optimum fitted BiArc, see: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?t=4859)

When placing a hole at x0 y0 there is no G00 x0 y0 in the exported G-Code.
So the first cut was made at the current position of the tool, not at x0 y0!

In the Application Preferences>Draw>Text dialog, when first opened, the Uncheck all and Check all buttons are not disabled if the Show font preview in font controls check box is checked. If you click on the Use reduced selection of fonts check box twice the buttons become disabled.

Reported is that black is saved as #00004c (dark blue)

My system/installation saves black as #4c000 (dark red)

When using single primary colors these get reduced to #4c, #7f, #99, #cc & #ff.
The threshold for that are #00, #65, #8b, #b2 & #e5

Building with the bundled version, 1.8.5, works fine.

When I try to build using the system version, which for Mageia Cauldron is 1.9.3, the build fails.

Openning a big file or doing any action in it, takes minutes to load.
Even dragging the scrollbar slightly left or right, takes mintues to redraw the canvas again, which makes QCAD un-usable for professional use.
Is there a way to make QCAD usable, after loading completed:
- Like suppressing edit until user says so,
- or taking snapshots of rendered canvases to another file and use it, as windows uses thumb.db ( for negative latency :P )

The 3dConnexion Space Navigator would be wonderful as a pan and zoom control. I find it extremely useful in SketchUp and when I switch from that to QCAD am always disappointed to find it doesn’t work.

While full support for the buttons and such would be nice, just the ability to map the axis to pan and zoom would be wonderful.

If I use an identical Name accidentally again in the Custom Property dialog - it will overwrite the first value with the same name without any warnings.

Add configuarable format options in application preferences for saving blocks to library to either dxf or dwg.

... but it looks like we have the issue now back with some kind of variation.

If I use the test drawing which I posted in 2013 ( FS#843 ) it works still as expected after it was fixed.

If I create a new block it won’t work in a new drawing nor in the old test drawing - no chance to snap to the Block Reference.

It would be nice if QCAD spit some kind of warning message when trying to render a layer with a name that doesn’t exist (and perhaps render nothing), rather than silently rendering an empty image. :D

I find myself with reasonable regularity needing to change the background color between black and white. It would be much more efficient to have a toggle button on the ribbon to make this sort of instant (kind of like the “screen based line types” button works but make it for background color and just between black and white or let people define their dark and light themes and toggle the background between the two.

Status Bar menu remains unchecked even it is toggled on or off
