Provide configuration option to raise / lower maximum reference points that are shown for selected entities (currently fixed to 1000).

Original report:

Imported a spline-dxf from adobe illustrator. Converted the spline to polyline with explode command. Then no anchor points / vertex points / vertices were showing anymore. Simplified the polyline so that it had less than 1000 points. Vertices became visible.

I think some freeform objects need actually more than 1000 vertices. Also them need to be edited. Please increase the amount of vertices showing to biginteger

If I move something and it went wrong I can easily undo the last move and start over without the need of a re-selection.
If I copy something and it went wrong I can undo the last copy but I have to re-select everything again.

It would be nice to keep the once chosen selection in both “undo” situation!

Same with similar functions like rotate etc. ....

Default Path for “Create Library item from selection” / “Save us” is C:\Programme\QCAD pro 3.1.6 ...
... regardless of the settings in the “Application Preferences / Library Browser / for Library Sources.
And QCAD doesn’t remember the last path choice ....

If I have to save 50 Library Items I have to navigate 50 times thru my system to find - the same place.

It would be nice if QCAD would point in first place to the Library Source or, at least, remember the last used path ...

New mode for clip to rectangle: copy contents of rectangular area to clipboard.

It would be very helpful if the library browser had a delete function.

I know that this can be very risky for some people, but it is the easiest
way to see clearly what you delete.

Hi,

With the new block attribute feature available in QCAD 3.3, there’s little to be done in order to make QCAD a good environment for typesetting circuits and other diagrams. In particular, the only killer feature that lasts is support for connectors: orthogonal lines that connecting one endpoint to another creates a connection line; when the concerned entities are moved the connection line is re-arranged. I’d like to know whether commercial support for this feature is available.

Absolutely love the new options for adding the measurements in the current drawing.

I would like to see an additional option for only adding the text and not the lines also, maybe a simple check box would suffice here.

Of course at the moment I am able to use the property editor to select only the lines and move to a new layer and hide!

Add the option to use a fixed path for the save to, open and CAM export directories.

(G code files are usually saved in on directory that the Control Program opens them up from so this would save a ton of mouse clicking)

It would be useful to have an additional option to only detect duplicates on user defined selection of drawing.

Add a command line switch to dwg2pdf to export a given block instead of “*Model_Space”.

We do not have a Radian measure tool but we can change the labeling of a Angular Dimensioning ...

It would be nice to have a “Radian measure symbol” in the Property Editor / Geometry / Label / Insert Symbol List.

If I use the Info tool “Polygonal area” with the option “Add measurement to the drawing” I always have to edit the Value to make clear that we now looking to an area value like m² or ft².

I was thinking that a pre labeling (prefix/postfix) like the normal Dim tools could save me a couple extra steps ...

Add tool to construct new trace entities.
Trace entities can currently only be loaded from DXF/DWG.

Having leader with numbers and text would be awesome to better interact with the drawing and making BOM lists.

Currently it takes too mush time to make the leaders with text and number bubbles.

In Autocad when making a dimension when left clicking to place the dimension there is the possibility to drag the dimension to either side of the dimension. This is also possible with Qcad dimension, but it losses the snapping and does not extend the dimension line out to the dimension text.

This is very useful when the two lines the needs a dimension are close together, or overlapping with another.

Attached is two images one for autocad and one for Qcad

Using a horizontally/vertically ray means always I have to use a preset Reference point which is 0° for the horizontal Ray and 90° for the vertically Ray. The Reference point Option Box is deactivated.

It would be nice to be able to choose by myself between a Start and End Reference point like the vert./horiz. Line options.

Add support for automatic text line wrapping for multiline text entities.

A ‘non -filled’ arrowhead would be good to have also.

Import tables in CSV format and display them in the drawing as lines and text.

Changeable color of the selection bar in the layer list.
Now the color of the bar is darkblue and the underlaid icons are black and are not readable.

With that new feature the information tool shows the absolute paper units in the print preview mode instead of drawing units.
So you can determine the exact size of an entity in the printout without manual calculating with the drawing units and the scale factor.

After all, print preview is not just the drawing on white, isn’t it? Everything else should stay in drawing units. Just the rulers, maybe a preference?

Make dimension label decimal separator configurable (DIMDSEP).

Add support for alternate units for dimension style, for example to display units in mm and in.

It would be useful to have an additional option to be able to count/add up consecutive distances measured with this tool ;)

Often I find myself clicking on an existing line to determine the angle from the property editor, then copying and pasting this info into the angle field, it would be so very useful to have an additional option in the ‘Line from Angle’ tool to be able to pick an existing entity which would automatically register and fill in the angle for me,then all I would need to do would enter the length required.

if I need to design a bolt circle (circle on circle) and the single bolt diameter and the quantity of circles are given then I can use the QCAD Polygon Tool “Polygon 2 Points of Side” ... but for the Length of the side I have to do a workaround (Line with this length) to determine the desired length.

It would be very convenient to have an additional tool for a Polygon which has the possibility to ask me for the center, corners and the length of the sides.

Not sure how difficult this would be to implement but just wondered if it is possible to have an option in QCAD to change the opacity of a colour ?

When working with several files is normal also to work in several folders, this can be confusing, expecially in the case where there are different folders with equal file names.
I propose the creation of a “Open file location”. This, probably under the main menu, “File”, when clicked would open the standard
“file explorer” with the folder that contains the current file already selected.
It would be quite similar to the windows 8/10 “Open file location”.

It would be extreamly useful to have an option to either use - or not use leader lines in the standard horizontal/vertical dimension line tools, some of the drawings I’m working on need the ‘standard’ looking dimensions with leader lines and some don’t. its a real pain to have to select - explode and delete all the leaders I don’t need.

It would be nice if the Info Tool / Add Measurement to drawing option would use the same settings like the “Dimension settings” for Font and Text height. It’s a kind of similar function in a drawing and should have the same style. Maybe with an on/off switch?

unfortunately I need to use from time to time different Units in a drawing. It works nice with the Scale possibility but to keep my drawing readable I need to label then the DIM accordingly. Sadly I don’t have a Postfix option so I work with a workaround what means I use <>”, or <>’ and <>mm in the Prefix field. If I then terminate the DIM tool and start it again I will loose my settings except the Scale Factor.

May I ask for an additional Postfix option or/and a remember functionality of those fields?

When dimensioning my drawings I always want the dimensions to be on the dimensions layer.
When adding text I want the text to be on the text layer.
When drawing an infinite line it is always a construction line, therefore I want it to be on the construction line layer.
When drawing a line segment it almost always is on my outline layer.

So I propose a new option to bind certain actions to certain layers.
Whenever those actions are selected the layer should automatically be switched.

I can imagine this being implemented in the General→Tool Settings menu, where the short cuts are defined.

Hi Andrew,

Currently the only option to insert a viewport is using the central insertion point, for better placement it would be useful to have an option to insert viewports at any of the four corners in addition to the centre.

It would be good to have an option to be able to place the text to the left or right,maybe just a simple check box? please see attached screenshot to explain. In this instance (and I have to do this a lot ;)) I had to explode the dimension entity and rearrange the text manually :(

There is the Synchronize attributes feature which works well. But It affects only block references in the active layout(modelspace, block layout). If I want to synchronize attributes of block references in in another blocks, i have to manually go through all blocks and run synchronize attributes feature. That is the reason I would like to modify Synchronize attributes feature to affect all block references in a drawing, or add new Deep synchronize attributes feature.

Hi!

A friendly request to add an option to disable hatch rendering on “dwg2bmp” conversions.

Depending on the nature of the conversion and the density of the hatch, this may render unintelligible images (see attachments). The option could look like “-t, -nohatch” to indicate hatches should be hidden before rendering. This could potentially become an option too for “dwg2svg” or “dwg2pdf.”

Just starting with QCAD, for some hours now - really excellent user interface (compared to other low budget CADs, like DCAD, or BeckerCAD...) !

Surprisingly, point coordinates - entered via the command line, and shown with correct positions on the drawing- are not displayed correctly with the ‘dimordinate’ (DO) command.
There are no negative values, even when the center point (0;0) is right in the middle of the drawing, so points left and below should have !
