When working with multiple Viewports with different scale it could be very useful to have extra properties controlling how dimensions are rendered in the viewport:

1)
E.g an extra “Dimension Scale” under “Scale” in the Viewport selection’s ‘Specific Properties’ section, could allow having the same size when printed.
This Dimension Scale would be multiplied on top of the Scale value, but only for Dimensions rendering.

2)
Toggle button for hiding any dimensions in the Viewport. Maybe this should be controlled by being able to specify a Layer that should be hidden in this Viewport only, then I could select my Dimensions layer here.

Offsetting 32 polys from ellipses fails.
Offsetting 16 polys can be completed with 2 selections for outer and 2 for inner.

For some reason the offset function halts premature.

So far, layer status has only been implemented very rudimentarily.
I wish something like a dialog box in which you can choose for each layer status, which layers belong to it and which not.

It may be useful to insert the “image cropping” function both in top / bottom - right / left mode, and with polyline

“Paste” has already the options: To current layer, Overwrite layers, Overwrite blocks.

Would be a nice time saver to have the same options for “Paste along Entity” too.

When I’m drawing inside a layout block the offset tool picks up lines from blocks that are hidden.
It is not happening with all the block.

I find myself with reasonable regularity needing to change the background color between black and white. It would be much more efficient to have a toggle button on the ribbon to make this sort of instant (kind of like the “screen based line types” button works but make it for background color and just between black and white or let people define their dark and light themes and toggle the background between the two.

Looks like error, but may be that’s feature request.

CAD software uses typical navigation behavior as:
Wheel = Zoom; Ctrl+Wheel = Scroll up/down; Shift+Wheel = Scroll left/right.

Any other software like browsers, office software (openoffice writer, ms excel and so on), 2d paint software like GIMP (Photoshop and so on) uses other behavior:
Wheel = Scroll up/down; Ctrl+Wheel = Zoom; Shift+Wheel = Scroll left/right.

Users, that intensively use CAD and other software simultaneously prefer to make same behavior in their applications switching CAD scroll to plain mouse wheel.

QCAD’s “Application Preferences”: “Graphics View: Navigation”: “Mouse wheel/ two finger swipe”: “Scroll” allow user to assign scroll up/down to wheel mouse instead of Zoom. But there is mistake Ctrl+Wheel didn’t change to Zoom. Ctrl+Wheel continues to scroll up/down, as the wheel.
Wheel = Scroll up/down; Ctrl+Wheel = Scroll up/down; Shift+Wheel = Scroll left/right. No zoom!

Draw manipulation at this mode like a hell: you need to use wheel in conjunction with Ctrl/Shift to point draw in desired position, than move your hand to +(-) for make desired zoom.

The conditional clause of this sentence is ‘the odd choice’.
Blaming this on incompetence.
Insight is the best way to get better ...
... but the rest is more an odd choice of tools for this kind of task ...

Again, the MISTAKE was by accident, not intended, in a flick of the wrist ...
I didn’t change the trimming method, I simply forgot to ... only once.

The ‘undo’ of my incompetent MISTAKE didn’t returned to how the situation was before I erroneous trimmed with TM.
I was simply undoing my erroneous action.

Documented it in 4 quadrants.
For this, 4 times on purpose, and not as a consistent ‘odd choice’.

Polyline arcs with Width = 2R render as circle segments rather than circle sectors.
As Non-reversed arcs these don’t explode.
As reversed arc these explode to a single arc rather than a circle sector contour.

There is also still the faulty rendering with Z not zero

Arctic_Eddie reports failing CAM offset at exactly these points !!!
Reported is a faulty arc with radius of over 360,000mm.
- I can not reproduce this under QCAD working further on the Polys with NaNs.
- However the direct offset of such controlpoint Splines is erroneous.
(see file in post 30902)

Arctic_Eddie reports arc radii of over 10,000mm.
- These don’t seem to be faulty.
- I agree that BiArc fitting should be bound to a lower and certainly to an upper limit.
- That should be huge otherwise faint curvature is represented by many
wobbles or too quick by straight lines.

No example file provided because these NaN values are not saved to a file.
More pronounced with lines as with arcs.

Can also occur when adding segments to an existing polyline with OC.

I like to start my CAM paths at low curvature instead starting at high curvature.
Ellipses may explode with the startpoint at the tip. (file Y2)

The method Polyline from Segments (OC) can be configured for tolerance and simplification in the Options Toolbar.
The method Polyline from Selection (OG) has no UI or none showing.

OG retrieves a tolerance from QCAD.ini, what is initially not set:

    var tolerance = RSettings.getDoubleValue("PolylineFromSelection/Tolerance", 0.001);

The tolerance will be default = 0.001 similar as the default in AppPrefs.
The tolerance setting is included in QCAD.ini after changing the AppPrefs entry.

OG calls PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments with this tolerance:

    var counter = PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments(di, tolerance, this);

PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments calls PolylineFromSegments.createPolylineShape
with simplification hard coded to true. (last parameter)

Add support to specify multiple blocks (layouts) to output (one per page).

When trying to plot a dwg or a dxf to pdf where the viewport is orientated to a different angle than north up
the data in the view port is plotted north up.
see attached DWG and pdf for clarification.

We currently have a paper-space using two viewports with different layers from the model-space frozen. Unfortunately in the pdf output the layers which are frozen show up.
dwg2pdf should obey the specific frozen layer for each viewport

Implement a command line switch to only show a list of given layers for dwg2* command line tools.

I am doing a bit of landscaping and using a (big) ortophoto as one of my layers in order to sanity-check on the ground measurements.

The layer contains a point and the image and nothing else.

The image is a 8MB file: “PNG image data, 4200 x 2980, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced” and it is scaled to 210 coordinate units (meter) horizontally in the drawing.

With approx 50% probability the image disappears during Save, as see for instance in this diff of the DXF file:

The point in the same layer does not similarly disappear, the bug only seems to affect images.

I have seen this bug from version 3.7.5.0 to git as of yesterday (63e06c778926a803bdfbffdf27b8c24d41511072).

I have not been able to correlate the bug with anything.

Looking closer at the DXF file (attached), there seems to be some residuce of attempts to insert images in protected/invisible layers, so this may be some kind of refcounting issue.

(Any chance of getting FreeBSD into the “Operating System” field ?)

Add parameters to the function DL_Dxf::writeVPort.
This way users will be able to specify the desired viewport.

command line arguments: allow class name after -exec

It would be nice if one could select multiple blocks in the block list at once (holding ctrl or ctrl+shift). Main purpose would be to delete them if they are not needed anymore. If possible, the same applies to layers.

I think it would be nice to have more flexibility for Prefix etc. option (not only the drop down with a given choice) and a remember function for all those fields like postfix and tolerance.

Why Remember Function:
If I use a postfix like <>” in the postfix field I’m only able to use it for this particular dimension type at this time. If I change the type (from Horizontal to vertical or what ever) I have always to repeat my postfix. The same with tolerances.

Blocks: moving complex blocks with drag and drop should show bounding box as preview

A missing feature in my work are logical operations (combine, intersect, ..) for polylines

Example:
Draw some elements, select them, say combine. The result will be the outline of all elements.

There is an issue importing from Autocad:
lines and quotes (both arrows and text) appear too much big (see attachment).
I can fix quotes modifying dimensions in “current drawing preferences”, but lines are still too thick.
Autocad’s dxf are opened with right line thickness but wrong quotes.
Furthermore, Autocad opens Qcad’s dxf files showing wrong quotes.

Select lines, arcs, ... and convert them to points along the lines, arcs, ... with a fixed distance.

Apparently this was possible in QCAD 2 due to the default behavior of Qt.

in QCAD3 RC2 points were printed as crosses, in QCAD3 RC4 they are printed as (very little) points. I think this isn’t a bug but a feature.

It would be nice if one could change this behaviour / select the symbol of points.

Ziehe ich mit der Maus eine normale Auswahlbox kann ich Elemente markieren.
Möchte ich einzelne Bereiche wieder herausnehmen muss ich alle Elemente einzeln anklicken (mit gedrückter Shift Taste).
Ich kann zwar dies komfortabler gestalten mit der Select → (De -) Select Contour Funktion welche aber erst über das Menue aufgerufen werden muss.

So wie ich einzelne Elemente mit der Maus auswählen und mit der Shift-Maus Funktion deselektieren kann wäre es schön wenn die Shift Taste auch bei Auswahlbereichen direkt zum deselektieren eingesetzt werden könnte.

As an old professional “documentation writer and user inteface designer” but IMHO, I’m not convinced that the “Application preferences” are correctly organised for ease of understanding and using them.
These settings are organised in 2 levels. Some of the first levels have their own settings (e.g. “Graphics view”) while most others don’t (e.g. “Load/save”). May I humbly suggest some consistency rules :
- no sub-level if there is only one subject
- no items on main level if there are already 1 or more sub-level(s).
For instance :
- sub-level “Default Dimension settings” under “Dimension” is the only sub-level : then move these items under main level “Dimension” and suppress the sub-level ;
- the items under “Graphics view” main level (with several sub-levels)could be in a sub-level named “General” ;
Actually, “Graphics view” main level is the only one which has both its own items and sub-levels )) ?

Es ist möglich Layer in nicht eingefügten oder unsichtbar geschalteten Library Items unbemerkt zu löschen ....

Fallbeispiel 1:
Ich arbeite an einer Zeichnung die u.a. den Layer “Gelbe Linie” benutzt.
Ich füge ein Library Item ein was auch einen Layer “Gelbe Linie” hat.
Ich lösche - aus welchen Gründen auch immer - in der Zeichnung das Library Item weil ich es erst später wieder verwenden will.
In der Blocklist ist es natürlich immer noch verfügbar.
In der Zeichnung lösche ich den Layer “Gelbe Linie” da ich diesen nicht brauche brauche - habe aber natürlich nicht im Kopf welche Layer in meinen Blocks verwendet wurden.
Nach einiger Zeit will ich den Block (den aus der Library) wieder einfügen - dieser ist nun aber unbrauchbar da der Inhalt welcher auf dem Layer “gelbe Linie” war fehlt.
Das Library Item neu aus Library laden um das bereits existierende zu reparieren scheitert da das erste nicht überschrieben werden kann. Ich muss den ersten Block löschen um den neuen benutzen zu können.

Fallbeispiel 2:
Da das selbe (löschen der Layer) auch passieren kann bei unsichtbar geschalteten Blöcken kann es dazu führen das ich zig bereits positionierte Blöcke zerstöre und neu platzieren muss um meine Zeichnung zu reparieren.

Fallbeispiel 3:
Ich sehe in meiner Zeichnung einen Layer “Gelbe Linie”. Weiß nicht was das ist - schalte alle Layer unsichtbar außer “Gelbe Linie”. Klicke auf “Auto Zoom” um zu sehen was den auf “Gelbe Linie” ist. Finde nichts = also leer! Lösche Layer “Gelbe Linie”. Der Layer wurde aber von einem im Moment nicht verwendeten Library Block verwendet. Es gibt keinen Hinweis das ich damit ein Library Item zerstören könnte ....

Lange Rede kurzer Sinn: Wäre es machbar/sinnvoll Layer in Blöcken nur löschen zu können wenn ich mich im Edit Modus der Blöcke befinde?

Since this is not supported by Qt anymore, this would likely have to be implemented from scratch.
