To add another Arc tool option in Arc tools set:

1.Specify Start point for Arc.
2.Specify End point for Arc.
3.Specify “Tangent” direction (without being restricted in input field) so you can visually select a point on your desired Tangent line!

To add the option to ‘print only’ selected area in a drawing.

To add support for drawing tangents between ellipses.

Just a thought, but one that could be useful for machinists in particular - a measurement tool that can snap to a point as per usual, but then just displays the drawing coordinates in X and Y. This could be expanded to the dimensions tool set, so that you can click on a point and print the coordinates next to it.

To have a ‘clean up ' tool to:

- eradicate duplicate lines
- eradicate stray points
- remove empty layers
- remove unused blocks

Perhaps with an initial dialog which allows the user to choose what they want to clean up.

To have the option to set your own ‘user defined’ line weight.

Some times I need to have the dimension info using the Vertical Dimension tool displayed horizontally.

Possibly this option could be added to the Label drop down menu.

It might be useful for some to have the option to turn on/off ' auto’ dimension tracking option.

Feature request for a ‘plug-in’ for generating different types of gears, like - Ring, Spur, Sprocket, Rack, etc... etc...
To produce 2D templates for all sorts of projects.

To add a Plot Stamp option for printing, to have options to print file name, date , time etc...

Hatched block loses hatching when using isometric projection tool:

When manipulating a saved hatched block with the isometric tool it loses the hatching unless the block is exploded.

Is this normal behaviour here? or a bug?

To re-introduce Tile and Cascade window options like as before in QCAD 2.2.2.

When adding or removing additional viewports,an extra unnecessary window of the viewport is created.

When using the Lengthen/Shorten tool it would be good to have an additional option to be able to pick a point to lengthen or shorten to.

It would be really cool to have a Note book tool for QCAD!

For example I am often working on a draft and at the same time scribbling notes down on a separate piece of paper relating to the drawing I am working on, could be anything e.g. add a block,add a dimension etc. etc... all sorts of things to remind myself about - all related to a particular drawing.

Of course I could use any number of other programs for this but a simple dedicated tool inside QCAD (could be called the ‘QCAD scribbler ;)) would be much better, especially one that can save the notes to a particular file, then when I open up my drawing again - my notes are there too!

When working with the isometric grid (in any projection - Top, Right, Left) and drawing from ‘scratch’ as it were, without using the projection tools - I find myself using ‘Line from Angle’ the most.

It would be extreamly useful to be presented with two extra buttons when using this tool, a 30 degree button and a -30 degree button, this way I wouldn’t need to keep typing in the angle difference here.

Not really a bug I suppose but the save as.dgn file format is missing in snapshot 3.0.8 release.

Will this be available again soon?

A ' Multi ' Breakout tool or added option to the existing Breakout tool.

For example see attached image.

An option to remove all segments within a chosen boundary would be good, in my example I want to remove all the hatching within the Red circle.

So after exploding the Hatch, currently I have to remove all segments singularly!

Of course I could have placed the circle first and hatched around it - but in this and most instances it is easier to design and to produce the Hatching first and then place my circle/shapes etc.

Would it be possible to make a Plug in tool for a Hatch generator, so custom made hatches can be saved as .pat files?

I have a lot of up and coming future projects that I would like to make my own ‘custom’ hatches for.

It would be very useful to have an extra option to only detect duplicates within a user defined area.

To add a new ‘Match’ properties tool.

For example, I have a large drawing with lots and lots of entities on various layers and I want to select some entities (say 500 or more) which are all on different layers and change all these selected entities to match the properties of one other particular entity - but, but I want the ‘Matched’ entities to remain on their own layers.

OK, of course I can use the property editor for this and this is fine in most instances but I would first need to determine the the layer data for the properties of the entity I would like to match to (Color, Line weight and Line type) in the first place and then I need to remember these attributes in order to change things in the property editor in order to change all of my selection to match!

As I say mostly the above procedure would be fine to use but for convenience it would be great to have a new tool to do all this for me and cut out a few steps in the process.

A new ‘Match’ properties tool procedure could be something like this:

1. Select Match properties tool.

2. Select all entities to be matched.

3. Select entity to match to.

4. Tick or leave un-ticked - move to same layer.

5. Complete process.

* Actually, while writing this I`ve just thought of another useful addition which could be added to the Info tool set, ‘Entity’ properties info!
Example - click on Info > Entity Properties and click on the entity in question and then the properties are displayed without going to the layer data for this!

Feature request - to have an option to underline text.

It would be useful to have a persistent selection button added to the ‘selection’ tool set.

This would allow the user to set persistent selection as and when needed for the current drawing one is working on, rather than going the long route through the ‘Application’ preferences dialog.

An option to save to dwt (drawing template) would be so very useful.

If a file is opened by clicking on it in an open ZIP archive, autosave will not work.

Autosave function not working, error warning given instead!

It would be extreamly useful to have an additional info tool to be able to find the centre of gravity (centroid) for an irregualr polygon.

Actually a tool whicn gives an option for finding the centre and centroid of polygons would be good.

Absolutely love the new options for adding the measurements in the current drawing.

I would like to see an additional option for only adding the text and not the lines also, maybe a simple check box would suffice here.

Of course at the moment I am able to use the property editor to select only the lines and move to a new layer and hide!

It would be useful to be able to pick a Start and End point of an Arc within a Circle to then break this out. So in principle another break out tool.

My request is that all selected entities stay selected after isometric projection, this would be useful for example if you need to modify the projection further after placing!
Maybe an extra button could be added in the ISO options?

I think it would be useful to add a note to the Application preferences dialog window, to explain to the user the difference between ‘Application and Drawing’ preferences and how it effects drawings in QCAD.

In the same way as the Pen tool has a drop down menu, would it be possible to have an option to configure the layer list in the same way. I am trying to create a bit more drawing space and it would be good if I could dock the layer list in the top of my window and only take up a single row space!

I would very much like to ask for the option to Hatch/Fill with a gradient of one or two colours.

It would be great to have a tick box to be able to offset a polyline from both sides/edges at once.

Maybe a similar feature could be added to the line -parallel tools?

Would it be possible to have options for:

1.Enable or disable Snap label with text.

2.To have a ‘Snap Marker’ with style and colour choice instead of snap label.

* It would be good for users to have the choice.

Would it be possible to have the choice of either dashed or solid lines for the large cross hairs?

Would it be possible to have the choice to dock or not dock toolbars - in other words keep them floating, an additional option in the tool settings could be added?

A ‘non -filled’ arrowhead would be good to have also.

For some tools like the Horizontal or vertical line, it would be good to have button options (similar to infinite and ray line buttons) instead of the drop down menus.

A new tool to create Spirals would be great to have, with an option to restrict the decline to achieve to draw either Logarithmic or Linear styles.

Often in print preview I need to move the paper around and position it with the ‘Move Paper Position’ tool, which is useful, but what would be an additional extra useful option would be a ‘Place Paper Here’ tool.

Then I could simply use this tool first and then use the ‘Move Paper Position’ tool afterwards to fine tune things!

If you look at the attached image you will see that in this students file they have got their drawing spread out all over the place:(

Not too sure if this would be possible for QCAD, but an option to open/import pdfs would be good.

An additional option would be useful to paste any given entity a set number of times with even/equal gaps in between.

It would be helpful to have the added option to lengthen/Shorten from both ends of entity at the same time.

New Tool Request:

To have a tool to make any given line which is ‘not’ orthogonal already into an orthogonal line.

For example if I had a line at 30 degrees by using the tool I could change the line to be either horizontal or vertical.
