Dimensioning - add option for horizontal text alignment.

Basically an option in drawing preferences to align text horizontally instead of vertically.

Dimensioning - add option to split dimensions.

To have an option to split the extension lines if they run over other entities.

Dimensioning - add option to insert text in the middle of dimension.

To have an option to have text aligned in the middle of the dimension line, rather than above it.

Add support to specify multiple blocks (layouts) to output (one per page).

Add text filter for layer list, block list.

Add intersection, union, difference, XOR operations for closed polylines.

When dimensioning my drawings I always want the dimensions to be on the dimensions layer.
When adding text I want the text to be on the text layer.
When drawing an infinite line it is always a construction line, therefore I want it to be on the construction line layer.
When drawing a line segment it almost always is on my outline layer.

So I propose a new option to bind certain actions to certain layers.
Whenever those actions are selected the layer should automatically be switched.

I can imagine this being implemented in the General→Tool Settings menu, where the short cuts are defined.

Add attribute value “By Parent” for color, line weight, line style for child layers.

Hi Andrew,

I’m not sure whether this has been added or suggested already. It would be great to have a built in QCAD table tool for producing cutting lists or bill of materials etc. A dedicated table tool would be a real boost to QCAD Pro ;)

Hi Andrew,

Currently the only option to insert a viewport is using the central insertion point, for better placement it would be useful to have an option to insert viewports at any of the four corners in addition to the centre.

Add a tool to detect overlapping segments or lines and arcs.
Similar like the “overkill” command in other CAD systems.

It would be good to have an option to be able to place the text to the left or right,maybe just a simple check box? please see attached screenshot to explain. In this instance (and I have to do this a lot ;)) I had to explode the dimension entity and rearrange the text manually :(

Antartica is put in a block as segments.
Added a rounded corner as segments and as poly.
scaled X x0.5 Y x1 origin the center of the magenta circl.

The scaled version is all over the place.
Set them to color red, no use they stay black.

The reference of the block is 2000mm to the left because I tried it out far right of my design.
The cyan circle is about 400mm in diameter.

This would be nice.
It will save a lot mouse - keypad changes for me.

Right-click on the tools on the left-hand side of the screen brings you back in the hierarchy.

However, that does not work if you right-click while hovering above a button that that is shaded (inactive).

I know this was reported and fixed before ...

... but it looks like we have the issue now back with some kind of variation.

If I use the test drawing which I posted in 2013 ( FS#843 ) it works still as expected after it was fixed.

If I create a new block it won’t work in a new drawing nor in the old test drawing - no chance to snap to the Block Reference.

Automatic change of icons in the Library Browser from black on white to white on black or vice versa depending on the background (white or black; light or dark) in QCAD main window.

It would be nice to be able to adjust the zoom factor so that the scale on the screen matches a ruler which I lay on the screen.

Creating G-code for cnc-laser, the laser-tool can not be correctly set at all.

Attached a laser tool proposal

When trying to plot a dwg or a dxf to pdf where the viewport is orientated to a different angle than north up
the data in the view port is plotted north up.
see attached DWG and pdf for clarification.

We currently have a paper-space using two viewports with different layers from the model-space frozen. Unfortunately in the pdf output the layers which are frozen show up.
dwg2pdf should obey the specific frozen layer for each viewport

When using the SHIFT key while dragging the end point a perpendicular guide line is displayed (see attached screenshot).
It would be very helpful if other guide lines with x=const. and y= const. are displayed when pressing SHIFT + ALT key together while dragging.

Identical scale expression used in Print Preview like 5:1, 5/1, 5”=1”, 5 are working flawless like expected.
Same expression used in a Viewport scale leads to different outcomes.

The Property Editor used to fix that in Paper_Space does also not accept those standard expressions.

There is the Synchronize attributes feature which works well. But It affects only block references in the active layout(modelspace, block layout). If I want to synchronize attributes of block references in in another blocks, i have to manually go through all blocks and run synchronize attributes feature. That is the reason I would like to modify Synchronize attributes feature to affect all block references in a drawing, or add new Deep synchronize attributes feature.

As a typical command line draftsman (still using acad10 for dos, since microsoft doesn’t supoort Win NT anymore),
I noticed a severe lack on command line acces in QCAD.

For example I find the icon and pixel selecting methods within qcad very confusing and rude.

With the normal cad Select command I can select exactly what en how I want it.

I intend not to be rude, but I find my drawing screen littered all over with all kind of very specialist menu’s,
tools and options. Sorry, I just want to make a drawing at the natural intuitive way, as with a pencil.
So I use command line Commands, such as Move, Copy, Change, Select, a.s.o.
For a ‘Command scripting’ user (-batching is a different tool!-),
it seems to me logical these basic commands should be accessable.

I love using the context menu, speeding up my workflow indeed.

I would like to suggest that we have the added option to show only icons if desired and also that maybe an option to save and show commonly used tools!

Maybe the context menu could be configurable to show two columns, one for the normal last used tools and the othjer one for the user saved tools?

What do you think?

Would not it be possible to create a kind of template for printing?
We draw our room without cartridge. The cartridge will automatically appear when printed. The scaling could be automatic so that it goes in the A4 and therefore also will post the scale automatically. The name of the play could be the file name, date last saved after it the rest of the information that would be to add somehow (material index, designer, ...).

On dessine notre pièce sans cartouche. Le cartouche s’affiche automatiquement lors de son impression. La mise à l’échelle pourrais être automatique pour que ca rentre dans le A4 et donc l’échelle s’afficherai aussi en automatique. Le nom de la pièce pourrais être le nom du fichier, la date du dernier enregistrement après c’est le reste des infos qui serait à ajouter je ne sais comment (matière, indice, dessinateur, ...).

Two useful commands make it necessary to

1-”delete all the history of the command lines without terminating QCad” ; and

2-”export attributes to the CSV file as exported to the Blocks List”

The line for “General properties”, “Layer” the line is too narrow,
so you do not see the layer name when the Property Editor is pinned to the side.

Make unprintable layers also hidden in print preview

When selecting multiple blocks that contain the same attribute names, attribute properties appear with the values of the last selected block instead of “various”. I do not know if this is a “bug” or developer option, but “various” would be better in my opinion.

we know that you need to have always software performance in your mind to decide which features / tools can / should be implemented and on which way.

I really appreciate your effort to find the best middle way between software features and performance but I think also it’s a tough call to appraise worldwide the overall customer equipment to make the software workable to the best for everybody. That isn’t possible without compromise.

Maybe it would make sense to think about a new dialog in the “Application Preferences” to let the user decide what kind of feature are absolutely needed regarding to his/her work-task / equipment. I don’t mean that you need to cover every single thing but the main “performance jeopardy’s” should be covered with an on/off switch.

Yes I know - that isn’t done in 5 minutes but I think that can make your life easier in the long run and will cover even more customer.

Just my two cents. ;)

Serait il possible dans un futur d’ajouter un module de mise en plan de cone.

Une petite fenêtre sur lequel on donne par exemple :
1- Ø haut
2- angle de coupe du haut
3- hauteur du cône
4- Ø bas
5- angle du bas
6- épaisseur matière

Ce qui permettrai de sortir une mise en plan a plat de la forme
